I just bought some chub rub shorts from this company because I'm fat. It came with this charming card.
Thanks but I am not interested in having your views foisted upon me everytime I buy something from you! I am paying good money for a product - nothing else.
I do not want your political, religious, or any other views at all. Just send the shorts.
Amazed they didn't ask for my pronouns too. I am getting sick of this constant virtue signalling.

Tacky bright colours and a 1970s geography teacher vibe. I wouldn’t dream of ordering a pair. I don’t understand their appeal at all.

Henerlo · 24/06/2022 01:51

Perhaps they could post some photos of foresters and farmers wearing tights under their trousers for warmth. Or police officers.

Or lumberjacks?

Snuffy28 · 24/06/2022 01:55

I like the tights but I think they have gone too far with the current woke rubbish. Trans people are a tiny minority of the population.

Phrenologistsfinger · 24/06/2022 02:10

I much prefer Big Bloomers instead of Snag! Same idea but without the creepy men afaik. www.thebigbloomerscompany.co.uk

Well, they must surely believe that trans custom is enough to keep their business afloat if their female customers should abandon ship. I certainly don't want to feel that in buying tights I am encouraging some man's fetish. Those pictures disgusted me.

I would like to see one of their adverts with a normal, average woman. They use really big people which has no relevance to me. I can't tell what's they would look like on someone under 18 stone.

One of the whole points of Snag Tights is that they are made to actually fit and compliment larger or more awkward body shapes.

And this is something us fatties don't get to have in main stream shops, and don't get to see anywhere.

Snag make anyone who is different or 'othered' or stereotypically disliked/ hidden, more visible. It's great that I saw their large customers modelling tights and realised there was finally somewhere I could buy tights from.

Average sized women's pictures and shop dummies have been the norm since day dot.

picklemewalnuts · 24/06/2022 08:09

When that was their focus, @LittlestBaoBun, I bought them too. I've lost interest now they are focussed on walking on the wild side.

I don't like sexualised photos of models looking like pieces of meat, regardless of their size.

ShirleyJackson · 24/06/2022 08:13

I’m quite happy ‘othering’ men who walk about it woman face and display their knackers online, vacuum- packed into tights.

Because they’re creepy fucking weirdos.

ShirleyJackson · 24/06/2022 08:13

Glenthebattleostrich · 24/06/2022 08:22

I now refuse to buy from them. Hate the pandering to woman face. Honestly, I'd be returning the shorts and telling them why.

ElephantsFart · 24/06/2022 08:29

I agree with @crossstitchingnana - they should have a broader mix of people in their advertising to include slim people. Oh

Thanks so much for this link, I hadn't heard of this company before - looks great Smile

I've hidden Snag too, for all the reasons already given. I want to buy tights and underwear, not a fucking men dressing as women ideology. I would also like to see their whole sizing and various ages represented in their (female) models, but that seems beyond them.

CorvusPurpureus · 24/06/2022 08:50

I have no problem whatsoever with them selling tights to everyone on the planet who likes tights. Elderly goth here, with many an ex boyfriend who rocked a bit of fishnet.

I'm put off mostly because sadly I hear the quality has gone downhill in the last couple of years & just doesn't justify the price - mates used to rave about them & now say they are no longer great. Also, I just want to see tall, fat people wearing tights & looking good in them in their advertising, so I know they'll fit me. The soft porn poses get scrolled past.

I bought a couple of pairs a year ago, because I liked the colours/designs. They were fine. Went bobbly after a few washes, got laddered, but well, that's what tights do. I wouldn't buy, say, boring work tights from them, because I wasn't convinced that they were better quality than Primark. Way too expensive for...tights?

I think they've got a marketing issue. A few years ago, they were selling to younger plus size women. Now everywhere caters for that demographic, so they're trying to sell to portly blokes who think they're David Bowie in Labyrinth.

& good luck to them - no reason why chunky goblin cross dressers can't have lovely hosiery! - but I've lost interest because they're overpriced & not any better than you'd find on the high street.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 24/06/2022 08:57

I’m sure Snag hire people to constantly post on MN about them. I can’t fathom the obsession otherwise.

sexualising overweight women
heaven forbid a fat women be sexual, they should all be stitched up and forced to be celibate Hmm

Personally I feel that if you find their stance on this annoying/offensive/upsetting etc, then it's you who should shop elsewhere.
but that’s sensible. MN feminists can’t be sensible now, they need something to froth and cry about.

picklemewalnuts · 24/06/2022 09:07

I froth because I'm disappointed. I was a big fan. I want to still be. I like lots of the things they make, though think they are pricey. They were one of my luxury treats.

littlejellyfish · 24/06/2022 09:08

Their marketing really annoys me too. I do like the tights but it puts me off.

TheOrigRights · 24/06/2022 09:49

There is a big difference between being sexualised and being sexual

Wondering if "Fat womens lives matter" would have been more appropriate.

That used to be their USP!

They used to tell us that our bodies, no matter how fat and lumpy, were beautiful female bodies and that their tights were made for our big, fat, lumpy female bodies.

Now they are telling us that their tights fit any body and that our big fat lumpy bodies could well be male!

It is a complete move away from who they were, the reasons so many of us started buying from them in the first place.

Now my big, fat lumpy female body is just another big body I don't feel as understood by them, or so well inclined towards them. And that card is just the tin hat in it.

Send it back to them and express your ire!

And we fat lumpy women have been told on here often enough that we are being mean about this!

SirChenjins · 24/06/2022 11:47

Can I just add - 'their tights fit any body providing the body is under 30 (and probably nearer 25). For all they're just so desperate to prove how diverse they are, their diversity only stretches so far - even though us peri and menopausal women tend to sweat more and put on weight (and so presumably fits with their product's target market) and over 40s make up the majority of the UK adult population, they just can't quite bring themselves to show lumpy women with stretch marks and thread veins. That's a diverse step too far for our too cool for school friends at Snag - men are far more interesting, it seems.

pbj · 24/06/2022 11:51

They’ve gone full on fetish and I’m sick of the pornification and sexualisation of all parts of society. They’ve even got a nsfw site to upload your raunchy pics FFS.

just sell tights for all shapes and sizes and you’re good. Nothing more is needed. I haven’t noticed any “womens lives matter” leaflets complete with suffragette colours from them either.

SirChenjins · 24/06/2022 12:09

Just had a look at their website to see who the fuck is running this joint.

• We truly value inclusivity, for us this means individuality, not restrained by societal norms. We welcome all applicants no matter age, gender, ability status or race. Tattoos, coloured hair and a fondness for Dungeons & Dragons are all pretty normal round here.

Wonder if they have a 'you don't have to be mad to work here but it helps' sign on the staff room wall, just to remind everyone how cra-zeee they are with their blue hair?

Did also have a larf at their 'Our mission is to smash the fashion patriarchy' - which we'll do by promoting male fetishes Hmm. They've not quite grasped the meaning of patriarchy, have they.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 24/06/2022 12:09

@SirChenjins that is true. Whilst I use their chub rubs and am grateful for the relief they bring over summer, I don't see any older, fat, lumpy females being cherished. At some hot and sweaty point I must have decided to forgive them their casual, possibly subconscious ageism!

I get it. I'm not overly interested in anyone of any size, gender, race, etc in advertising on the whole. But I do appreciate seeing people like me being represented as valid sexual beings, being allowed to be on show like thinner people without it being a sick joke for laughing at.

This sort of thing has really helped me to feel less shitty about my body and whether I'm seen as, or allowed to be, sexually attractive.

The more normalised it is, the less it feels alien if I try and wear something revealing or typically sexy.

I suspect that’s a reaction to the absolute crucifying they got online last year when a non-binary neurodiverse person of colour didn’t get a job and accused them of being racist/ablist/transphobic and it all went a bit crazy.

Their promo photos for the swimsuits today are pretty diverse in terms of age (and “lumpiness”) of women.

I left one of their Facebook groups when someone suggested a Harry Potter range and immediately a member started slagging off JKR and I just couldn’t be arsed. But I still buy the product because they last longer than any other tights I’ve ever bought.

Ive just had a look - I don’t see women on there of 40 or over, of mid range size with a peri or menopausal figure that many of us have Confused
