An idea regarding prostitution

Go gentle, I've not thought a lot or researched this idea, it just popped into my head last night...

Make paying for sex a criminal matter with unlimited fines for johns... UNLESS they are on the "Johns Register". If you want to use a prostitute without being at risk of prosecution you need to be listed on a public register of Johns. Name, town, age, photo and evidence of the results of an STI test conducted in the last 3 months.

One can debate the ethics of using prostitutes, but men who believe it is morally acceptable to do so should at least have the courage of their convictions and be open about it. They can't have it both ways and say it's fine but I have a problem with people knowing.

Do you not think though that promiscuity means that 'someone's body can be used as a thing' and 'without engaging with them being a person'?

The reason I ask is that often in can seem that someone is opposed to prostitution because they think that sex belongs in a relationship. It should be about Love and not just Lust.

Prostitution isn't illegal in Britain and so in one sense it is a legitimate purchase. I'm trying to understand why you think it shouldn't be but the only reason you give is that the purchaser is using a woman's body as a thing and not engaging with her as a person.

With most of the people we purchase things from we don't engage with them as people. We use them, or their bodies. It's as if you think sex should be about relationships.
