What is unprofessional there? It's a good interview, Elaine explains they couldn't include that in UK trial they found more than 10 instances where"he commited DV"and some other texts that were quite damning for him

It's interesting that Elaine says AH couldn't include evidence in this defamation case and that this is very unfair, however, when JD was denied his evidence in the Sun defamation case it's tough luck for him. Maybe she now has a taste of how he felt then.

Miscfeminista · 02/06/2022 20:17

Like wtf. There is no recording of her rape. And she said she spoke about her experiences from college age till today. You can be a prick and say"oh yes I can clearly see she wanted to write about JD"or you can say"I don't see any names or specifics which identify him per se"...clearly people took her as a liar from beginning which made it easy to believe that she was writing that to get back at him.

"JD was denied his evidence in the Sun defamation case"

Evidence like what? I doubt it would help him prove he's not an abuser, it might have just painted her in bad light(because that's all his"evidence"was)

Amber said on her final cross she wrote it about him and how people only want to curry favour, will say anything he wants them to, etc etc.

She basically answered the question for the jurors, how could they in good faith put NO on the jury form after that?. She walked right into it under pressure from cross.

ldontWanna · 02/06/2022 20:31

@CooooCoooo did you also trash rooms and belongings? Go on alcohol and drug benders? Had blackouts where you couldn't recall what you did?... and so on?

If not, then you are not Depp and AH is not your abuser. Strange you can't see that.

I’m not sure who this is aimed at but there was her testimony that she did write it about JD in one part of the trial.

I think some people on SM did decide that the trial should go one way or another, posts that it should have gone her way no exception, I didn’t really have a view other than waited to see what the jury decided - but I do think she undermined her case with some conflicting statements and admitting above

Miscfeminista · 02/06/2022 20:33

I think that people have undermined Elaine's work simply because she was representing AH. I thought she was doing a good job, woman is 100mph and was very persuasive, Camille came off snotty and genuinely made me feel grossed out with her"highschool mean girl"demeanor. Could they have done better? Yes, but so could have JDs team in all honesty. They catered to bullies and mobs, trying to smear her in very much same ways she was on twitter and totally ignorant about DV, as Elaine said.

I thought it was a long shot for him on defamation but on that point, why the flip didn't she say in testimony in front of the jury she was referring to SA from years ago in the op-Ed?

It's well documented she suffered at the hands of her father as well growing up. It was an easy out for her on the title.

Why didn't she do it?

Honestly OP? Elaine may be well respected in her field but it was clear that the court room is not where her expertise lies. She was truly awful. She was rude and sarcastic towards witnesses and the jury would not have liked that. She came across as cold and that would have inevitably reflected on Amber too. Her questioning technique was poor, her cross-examination was worse but nothing was quite as awful as her closing statements.

Although I agree it must be difficult to represent a client who is quite clearly telling a pack of lies on live television, if she were my legal representation and would be furious at her lack of skill where it mattered.

I think she coughed that it was about JD quite frankly because she lost her temper on the stand. She was trying to stay in her 'victim' character but you could see she was getting angrier and angrier when her lies were being brought up. It's at that point she stops answering Camille's questions and just starts ranting towards the jury. It's then she says the article was about him.

Miscfeminista · 02/06/2022 20:43

You are listing her being"cold"as her lack of expertise? You would probably comment on her jacket and hairstyle choice next in that case. They clearly didn't mind condescending smirks from Camille because they liked stuff that had nothing to do with expertise, like her age and looks(as well as attacking another woman, that seems to be a way to buy yourself some likes these days)

Or maybe she was getting pissed for someone calling her a liar to provoke a reaction out of her. Being angry IS part of being a victim? Especially when you don't get any justice?

"did you also trash rooms and belongings? Go on alcohol and drug benders? Had blackouts where you couldn't recall what you did?... and so on?"

Minus the drugs, I have. Sorry, and I'm not proud. I was driven to the point of insanity by a narcissist, gaslighting, tormenting shit. Sometimes I would react after months and months of constant abuse and of course, I was branded nuts and he laughed and smirked.

Don't underestimate what a constant barrage of abuse can do to the human mind. I'd be disappointed if I told my whole story and was told yes but if you flip out at any time, even once, you're an abuser too, just as bad and that negates everything he did, for years.

Nope, I'm not saying being cold is directly a lack of expertise. I guess you need to be spoonfed so I will try spell it out. I'm saying she should know how to connect with the jury and how to come across in a good light. If you are sarcastic, snippy and don't let the witnesses talk, then you look like the bad guy - if you look like the bad guy then so does your client by default.

I don't think there's any denying she was awful though. The rest of AHs team were pretty decent but she should have been chucked off the team. She brought absolutely nothing.

Yes you're right, every single person in the world is wrong and AH is right. All those witnesses, the TMZ guy, Dr Curry, meta grandad, the judge, the jury, the police, Kate Moss (who crawled out of the woodwork apparently) everyone in just conspiring against poor AH 🙄

LetitiaLeghorn · 02/06/2022 20:53

I don't entirely agree she lied about the donations, it seems there was a payment plan which is common with large donations.

Candie Goldbronn of the children's hospital said there wasn't a payment plan.

TimeTravelSickness · 02/06/2022 20:53

Camille came off snotty and genuinely made me feel grossed out with her"highschool mean girl"demeanor.

This is a spot on description of her. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, everyone kept saying she was amazing and I was just like Confused.

Yet its OK for you to say.

" Camille came off snotty and genuinely made me feel grossed out with her highschool mean girl demeanor"

That's not a childish personal attack at all

TiddyTidTwo · 02/06/2022 21:04

Absolutely.

"All those witnesses, the TMZ guy, Dr Curry, meta grandad, the judge, the jury, the police, Kate Moss (who crawled out of the woodwork apparently) everyone in just conspiring against poor AH"

This also.

Thing is I also told my friends etc about my abuse, and took photos (they still have them). I find AH bruises a bit of a stretch In my experience, not opinion, experience. But I can't base an opinion solely on that. Add everything else in l, and listening to the full god knows how many hours of audio, she sounds very familiar.

Of course im looking at it through my own lens but put all cases together there's a recognisable pattern, so much so psychologists base medical diagnosis on them.

She treated Amber with absolute contempt. It was horrible to watch. I think Elaine seems like a decent person, she just wasn't as tiktok friendly and photogenic. But Camille... just disgraceful. She got away with bullying a victim of domestic and sexual violence because she's young and attractive IMO, and because as Elaine has rightly said, Amber was dehumanised.

I mean, if you actually believe Dr Curry's bullshit diagnoses then at least behave with a modicum of compassion.

I have mentioned this on another thread a while back but for those criticising Camille’s demeanour I take it you are ok with Elaine, a well respected attorney, publicly mocking JD? Is it ok because he is a man? if that was a male attorney mocking a woman (especially on a case involving DV) there would be an outcry.

Depp’s team won a case that, in theory, going into they had a high chance of losing. I know which firm of attorneys I would pick if I needed representation.

TiddyTidTwo · 02/06/2022 21:16

No worries idont. Long time ago now.

Aspiringmatriarch · 02/06/2022 21:20

@StormzyinaTCup I don't think it was Elaine's finest moment, but the content of what she said was mocking JD saying Amber would never see his eyes again. It was relatively innocuous compared to Camille's behaviour towards Amber IMO. And to be fair, Depp does speak and text like an adolescent edgelord.
