Aaargh, I'm so fucking angry right now

I've got the fucking rage with it all. The Lia Thomas story, women being arrested for minor 'crimes' , one of them having a book and some stickers removed from her home and being released in the middle of the night with only her mobility scooter for transport, British cycling giving men a fucking green card to compete in any category they choose, a woman has been ejected from hospital for recognising someone is a man. Some days I get mildly annoyed, some days I find it fascinating on a strategic-whats-going-to-happen-next kind of way, other days I enjoy the humour of blow up dinosaur costumes and blistering comebacks. But not today. Today I've got the fucking rage. Is it just me?

Well you might not want to read this then…

Woman patient complains that there is a male in the ward. Staff come on handed and tell her that there isn’t (and that there are no single sex wards) - and treated as if she is a bigoted troublemaker.

Woman mysteriously discharged PDQ, although not quite feeling well enough in herself.

Yes I know, I'm on the other thread. This isn't a TAAT. I just feel overwhelmed by the endless bullshit and needed to vent. It's all so fucked up.

OP posts:
00100001 · 27/01/2022 21:21

It's fucking ridiculous.

Women.wilm be wiped from sporting history, replaced with males.

Watch this space, give it a few years and there will be entirely male team members in some women's teams.

ANameChangeAgain · 27/01/2022 21:23

I know what you mean @DoubleYouOhEmAyEn. I get angry because this is the world my teenage daughter has to navigate. I'm at the age where I'm happy to shout up and not care about being shouted down as a Terf or Karen, but I worry about what my dd will have to put up with when / if she starts uni.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 21:41

Yes, I really fear for my daughter. What a world. The extreme ideology of a small group of aggressive people has warped social norms and put half the population at risk. It sounds like a dystopian fantasy.

OP posts:
MoltenLasagne · 27/01/2022 21:47

Not just you. Add to the rage the fact that even on MN we have to talk in riddles to avoid the monitors and the fact that British Cycling have pre-empted complaints by asking people to report "non inclusive" language. So it's all the shit happening PLUS we can't even talk about it.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 21:58

How the fuck did we end up here?
I mean, I know how it happened, I've read Helen Joyce, I've listened to the Nolan podcast. Ive watched it unfolding with increasing horror and disbelief. I fucking know how it happened. I just want to know what the answer is. How do i protect my daughter from predatory men?

OP posts:
frostedfruit · 27/01/2022 21:59

It just all takes the absolute piss. We're being taken for total idiots.

awesomekilick · 27/01/2022 22:04

My poor DD as a young adult says she has simply stopped talking about any of this with anyone other than me, as she's anxious about being called a bigot and her pov being used to penalise her socially and professionally. My heart breaks for her tbh, having so much to lose that she's learned to keep quiet, when she used to be A confident feminist. What's happening is so fucking corrosive.

Chillyallday · 27/01/2022 22:07

I’m absolutely raging as well! As soon as one thing starts to look like the tide is turning (EHRC statement to Scottish Govt) - 50 other things happen to show how bad things really are. Gutted

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 22:13

That's so sad awesome . She sounds like a fine young woman.

OP posts:
DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 22:16

Yes Chilly I was really heartened by the EHRC. It's so demoralizing seeing how many institutions are captured.

OP I just want to say I hear you. I'm so very angry today too. Its Holocaust Rememberance Day today and every year we remember the millions of people casually murdered for absolutely no reason at all. Every year we are reminded that all it took was for ordinary people to just stand by and do nothing. When I first paid attention to this day, I didn't understand. Now I do. Common sense and basic humanity can leave the building so quickly if you just tell ordinary people that they are doing the "right thing". They will literally do anything you tell them, if you tell them that they are defending a good and proper cause. I'm not comparing the brutal and systematic destruction of 6 million human beings to being ordered to declare your loyalty to gender ideology, but basic human nature hasn't changed. Comply or be cast out.

And where is this taking us? No one has even given that the slightest thought.

It's only on these boards that I can talk freely about this, daren't raise my voice in real life unless I lose my job (and probably, some of my friends).

Slidey23 · 27/01/2022 22:20

@DoubleYouOhEmAyEn have you got a link about the British Cycling issue please?

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 22:21

Frosted I sometimes wonder how many people are doing it cynically and how many are just not able to think critically so they can't form their own opinion and just go along with the be kind and inclusive bullshit. Be kind to anyone who says they're offended. Especially if they're behaving inappropriately towards those that used to be known as women.

OP posts:
DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 22:23

Here you go Slidey. I got it off the other thread.

Raging here also!!

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 22:28

Version I'm completely with you. There are definitely parallels. It's obviously not even near the same scale as the systematic murder of milions of people. But people's willingness to follow a new extreme ideology without thinking through the consequences is chilling.

OP posts:
Squishmael · 27/01/2022 22:33

I'm exactly the same today and have been venting a bit on Twitter. I just can't get my head around the utter contempt for women - it's repugnant.

Version4needsabitofwork · 27/01/2022 22:39

What can we do about it though double? I've filled in petitions, written to my MP (a woman, but firmly of the TWAW variety), written to the council and spoken up where I feel safe to, but things are getting so much worse.

I emailed my son's tutor (state comprehensive) and when he replied his email was festooned in trans inclusion blue and white flags. WTF? I mean, okay he thinks that's "being kind", but so is supporting the Labour party, and he wouldn't be able to plonk a big red rose on his signiture would he? For a very good reason.

Today I was repeatedly offered a pronoun badge by senior management. Errr, no thanks. But what happens when everyone else is wearing one and I get singled out? What then? I'm on a zero hours contract, I've no traction at all in my work place.

I've got tickets for a gig at one of my favourite venues next weekend, but their toilets are now gender neutral - last time I went there was a bloke pissing in the hand basin (to be fair, it looks a bit like a fancy urinal, but WTF!).

These advances have all been waved in as if they are "good things". Good for who? The 22 year old interns that suggested the ideas in the first place to be inclusive probably... but then, everyone rolled over.

Why?

And, how can we make people see that these actions all have consequences?

frostedfruit · 27/01/2022 22:48

Surely it's all gonna become a bit laughable when the women's swimming team are just a bunch of big shouldered girls with bulges. I mean, should we should play them at their own game and create cisgender sports? I wonder what would happen if we put on a cisgender sports day at school and all sported the grey cisgender flag

BraveBananaBadge · 27/01/2022 23:00

Yes, today has been rage inducing.

Of all the silly organisations with their overdramatic statements after the EHCR announcement - realised one of them would have been drafted by an old friend and it really got me down.

Then with regards to Holocaust Remembrance Day Version, today I saw a well-known drag queen on social media take a quote about Nazism and dramatically liken it to 'the world gender criticals want' (paraphrasing, but not much).

I quite like drag, and liked this person in the past. But I can't believe anyone would be so stupid, hateful, blind and fucking misogynistic as to literally compare women fighting to protect their rights to Nazis on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

It's all so dangerously stupid. I am fuming today.

Slothtoes · 28/01/2022 06:45

Version and Double and Banana I agree. It’s happening on so many areas of life, professionally and personally and even I n getting our basic needs met, like in healthcare. Its so disturbing because it’s so relentless.

Women should be able to be focusing our time on what’s important to us, our health, our work, our family, friends, community, fighting climate change, bringing about world peace, world domination, working towards world class achievements or whatever it is. Instead, we’re constantly trying to hold back this tide of sexism and worse. (I don’t want to get deleted).
