Aaargh, I'm so fucking angry right now

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/01/2022 21:05

I've got the fucking rage with it all. The Lia Thomas story, women being arrested for minor 'crimes' , one of them having a book and some stickers removed from her home and being released in the middle of the night with only her mobility scooter for transport, British cycling giving men a fucking green card to compete in any category they choose, a woman has been ejected from hospital for recognising someone is a man. Some days I get mildly annoyed, some days I find it fascinating on a strategic-whats-going-to-happen-next kind of way, other days I enjoy the humour of blow up dinosaur costumes and blistering comebacks. But not today. Today I've got the fucking rage. Is it just me?

@MoltenLasagne

Not just you. Add to the rage the fact that even on MN we have to talk in riddles to avoid the monitors and the fact that British Cycling have pre-empted complaints by asking people to report "non inclusive" language. So it's all the shit happening PLUS we can't even talk about it.
Talk and riddles and stuffed into a separate forum lest too many people read.
DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 28/01/2022 07:18

Version we must keep fighting though. I agree it seems bleak at times, hence this thread and many like it. But we cannot allow safeguarding to be dismantled. It's too important.

I think we do too much 'jaw, jaw' and not enough 'war, war'.

UsernameNotAvailableHmm · 28/01/2022 18:52

I absolutely hate all this that's going on. Being in my 60's I've lived through and seen tough battles fought by, and for, women. I've seen all the intimidation, dehumanizing, misogyny in our society. But what is going on now (what everyone has been talking about here) truly is mind blowing in the most horrific way. I fear for my little grand daughter, she is just over one year old, who obviously knows nothing of the crazy world which awaits her. What will growing up being female be like for her with all this madness?

Version4needsabitofwork · 28/01/2022 19:08

One thing I'm doing now is at work, I'm referring to service users as females, rather than women and males, rather than men. That really helps in meetings and things when we're talking about inclusion and discrimination. It's clear who I'm talking about then and I'm finding that imperceptibly the TWAW colleagues are following suit. If we can't have the exclusive use of the word "woman" then we need collonise another one that more accurately describes who we are.

It's a small thing. But small things matter. Keep at it!

[quote DoubleYouOhEmAyEn]Here you go Slidey. I got it off the other thread.

Thankyou. I hadn’t seen this Sad (I am not a fan of BC but am very active in getting women into cycling).

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/01/2022 08:53

The one thing that really gets me is organisations apparently for LGBT+ rights condemning lesbians for not wanting to date transwomen without seeing their own hypocrisy. Surely being able to define your own sexuality is the most basic gay right.

Contrast these Sports organisations with our local Rugby club doing its absolute best to provide facilities for my 8yo DD, the only girl in her section, because obviously its not appropriate even at her age for her to share changing facilities with the boys

KittenKong · 29/01/2022 09:05

It’s a hierarchy - women say are often bottom rung

KittenKong · 29/01/2022 09:08

Angry? Well I was just having a look on twitter…

twitter.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1487326801579945985?s=12

I need a strong coffee now.

KittenKong · 29/01/2022 09:09

Sorry / realised it doesn’t give a clip when you c+p.

The founder of a women's charity for domestic violence victims has been interviewed by police after saying its service is for "females only". This was reported as a hate crime. An officer said: "We need to speak to you to ascertain what your thinking was"

FrancescaContini · 29/01/2022 09:14

Also raging on a frequent basis. The swimmer story was very rage-inducing.

I too have young DDs and fear for them. A generation of young people is being gaslighted and expected to play along with the Emperor in his new clothes. I plan to help guide them in making decisions regarding universities very very carefully.

This is outrageous for so many reasons. The police should be investigating real crimes.

Never mind coffee, I need a punchbag after reading this.

KittenKong · 29/01/2022 09:23

I’m trying not to get angry these days - I’ll have a stroke otherwise. Not sure strong coffee is the answer right now but it’s (relatively) early in the day.

I’m starting to feel very alone - why do so many just go along with it. Don’t people think anymore?

'Woman'. Guess where s he's imprisoned…

I read about this yesterday. Who, exactly, is being “progressive” here??

According to what I read yesterday, this creature put his hands around the neck of the ten year old girl before sexually assaulting her in some public female toilets. I could weep for the poor girl.SadAngry

Keke94LND · 29/01/2022 12:30

@awesomekilick

My poor DD as a young adult says she has simply stopped talking about any of this with anyone other than me, as she's anxious about being called a bigot and her pov being used to penalise her socially and professionally. My heart breaks for her tbh, having so much to lose that she's learned to keep quiet, when she used to be A confident feminist. What's happening is so fucking corrosive.
This is how I feel tbh, I'm 27, I don't talk about it with friends, the one time I have I was called 'transphobic' despite them not actually listening to what I was saying and only hearing what they wanted to here. I'd talk to your daughter about it though! ☺️
Keke94LND · 29/01/2022 12:33

@DoubleYouOhEmAyEn

Frosted I sometimes wonder how many people are doing it cynically and how many are just not able to think critically so they can't form their own opinion and just go along with the be kind and inclusive bullshit. Be kind to anyone who says they're offended. Especially if they're behaving inappropriately towards those that used to be known as women.
Be kind to anyone who says they're offended, unless they're a woman in which Case they're being difficult and hysterical
DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 29/01/2022 12:34

Kitten the capture of the police is one of the most worrying things about the whole mess. They are supposed to protect victims of crime but they are woefully disinterested and ineffective in the fight against DV and VAWG , instead chosing to devote their resources to checking peoples thinking, policing speech and supporting the bullying of women and men who speak up for womens rights and the safeguarding of children. If I think about it for too long it really messes with my head.

OP posts:
KittenKong · 29/01/2022 13:28

A friend of my sisters was on the force back when ‘it’s just a domestic’ was the phrase used. It’s just the same old misogynist with a bow on top.

leafcuttingwhale · 30/01/2022 18:41

That British Cycling statement! I HATE the hiding behind ' the science' , and 'developing area' when the science is bloody clear. As is the practice. Where are the trans men dominating men's sports? Why is it only TW dominating women's? Why might that be?
And the contradiction in the statement. They essentially acknowledge that lowering testosterone is inadequate in equalising the playing field yet still say, 'what the hey! Its only the girl's sport so who gives a crap anyway?'

Where else would a major policy change be made, that effects half the human population who are covered by your policy area, and where the people making the policies officially state that there is not enough evidence to support the policy change, but go ahead anyway?

Its a blatant, blatant disregard for women.

KittenKong · 30/01/2022 19:07

I see Joe McGann has been bullied off twitter by the actor (and yes I can all actors ‘actors’) off Hollyoaks. They really don’t like anyone agreeing with women rights do they?

Nasty bully.

Nasty bully.

Has he? He has always been solid on the issue - and it gives me hope for the company he keeps (having some contacts in common).

The Mail put him through the wringer last week implying he had recently been cheating on the wife he divorced six years ago so maybe that's part of the reason he quit?

Meant to say a few days ago how thankful I was for this thread as there is nowhere else I could have talked about what was on my mind the other day. Still furious about it but now so sad.

BraveBananaBadge · 31/01/2022 07:49

Just caught up with the story, kitten.

What bullying in plain sight. Vile attention seeking, deliberately out to ruin someone's career and make a name for themselves claiming a scalp as they go. They dare to say we talk in 'dogwhistles' - what a load of emotive, self-centred accusation. No proof, just hurt feelings.

As a middle-aged man Joe will no doubt come out the other side but if it was a younger cast member or woman, I dread to think.

AKASammyScrounge · 16/02/2022 21:54

But I can't believe anyone would be so stupid, hateful, blind and fucking misogynistic as to literally compare women fighting to protect their rights to Nazis on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Hysteria, pure hysteria. It's what they use instead of persuasive argument.

macj1 · 16/02/2022 23:55

Rage is good. It's what got the Suffragettes started. It's what kicked off the fight for equal pay in the 70's. Without rage we just subsist and think it's ok, when it's not. Daughter knows she can't mention our opinions when she gets to Uni - but amongst peers they can speak in code. It's like Polari in the 60's - in Soho - we'll get there. 2 steps forward etc.
