I can't find a thread for her. I would like to talk about her and what has happened. It's been in national news.

Was just watching it on the news. They've arrested two men aged 24 and 26- I think they said, and that she didn't know them. But they're not saying much yet about what happened, I don't think. Poor kid.

pastypirate · 24/11/2021 22:43

It's awful. She was at a bus stop in a suburb at 6pm. She'd told others of her plans and she was sensibly dressed. She wasn't drunk I don't think and it wasn't 2am. She arranged to meet friends in town who were worried immediately when she didn't arrive. She didn't take any obvious risks - not that it's ever the victims fault obviously.

Poor girl 😢 so shocking!

ilovetomatoes · 25/11/2021 00:43

Thanks for starting this thread. I’ve been thinking about it all night. Horrendous

bowchickawowwoww · 25/11/2021 00:46

This world is fucked!!!

Checkthemeaning · 25/11/2021 01:13

This was in the city I live in & we are all in shock.

A group of local females have set up a Facebook group for only women where we can all help each other to be safe on nights out, lifts off stranded, etc.

What's the world fucking coming to when you can't even wait at a bus stop at SIX PM?!

bowchickawowwoww · 25/11/2021 01:23

This world is getting sicker every single day!! Rest in peace pretty young lady. Xx

I am in the same city too, in a suburb where normally the only thing that happens is people park badly. We just don't have a high level of crime here.
After suffering the horror of the shootings recently, it is fair to say our city has come together for Bobbi and is grieving.
She should have been safe, she should have been able to wait for a bus without fear.
If this does turn out to be a stranger attack, I really do fear for the young people in our community.
Plymothians often describe the city as a village, it really is basically lots of smaller villages grouped together and most people genuinely are '6 steps away' from knowing each other.
This hurts.

foodiscomplicated · 25/11/2021 07:37

Heart sank when i heard the news that a young woman was missing. Not again....
I waited, and bingo. She's dead and men have been arrested.
Poor, poor lass and her family.
I'm in Cornwall but am glad to hear a women only space is opening up in Plymouth to help women stay safe. Not that we should have to resort to that...

I call it the village of Plymouth all the time and I'm sure once you live here a couple of years you have met everyone!!

I refused to tell the dds about Keyham. I've told dd1 about BA being missing because she's getting the bus to phsg every day and I'm panicking like mad she's at risk now.

@pastypirate The group is called Girly Cars (Plymouth) ☺️

sashagabadon · 25/11/2021 09:12

Yes another very upsetting and disturbing story. Has barely made the press too.
RIP Bobbie Anne

My sympathies to her family. They must be devastated.

HellsAngel81 · 25/11/2021 09:46

Truly awful Sad Fellow plymouthian here too.

Plymouth Live says there is going to be a candle-lit vigil to honour Bobbi on the Hoe at 6pm tomorrow night.

RIP young lady.

pastypirate · 25/11/2021 19:57

I've just watched the footage of the vigil tonight sobbing. We have been through the keyham shooting so recently.

The lack of media coverage and (wider) public outrage about this makes me angry.

She was 4ft 11 and it was 6pm. The murderer was not known to her. This is clearly a person who wanted to Kidnap a child and even though Bobbi Anne was technically an adult at just 18 years old, she lived only a few months into adulthood.

It is absolutely bloody terrifying and horrific that women and girls cannot even wait at a bus stop in the afternoon without a sick, entitled, evil pervert thinking it's their right to take them and do what they like to them.

I live nearby and have two daughters. I honestly feel bad about bringing them into this world.

sashagabadon · 26/11/2021 07:55

It’s quite unbelievable it is not even mentioned on the Today show this morning but we’ve listened to a long chat about a pro- cyclist who fell off his bike.

Warmduscher · 26/11/2021 08:05

This takes me back to my first term at Leeds Uni when Peter Sutcliffe murdered the student Jackie Hill as she walked home through Headingley, a busy town popular with students.

The university set up a women’s safety minibus that would pick women up from a night out and drop us off safely at home.

That was 40 years ago. Nothing has changed; men are still as violent as they ever were and women and girls are still unsafe going about their daily lives. I am heartbroken for Bobbi and her family and friends and full of rage against the men who commit these crimes.

FoxgloveSummers · 26/11/2021 09:50

I’m amazed there hasn’t been more shock about this. Poor girl. I can’t help wondering why not. And also how they caught the suspect so quickly.

Horrible for the alleged killer’s bandmates as well, he must have seemed like a normal enough person I guess.

PipeOfPringles · 26/11/2021 09:55

Agree with everyone. Women are killed by men at a rate of two a week and it's just "background noise". Every week.
Not to minimise what happened to Bobbi Anne, of course, as we don't know exactly what happened. Yet more men who feel completely entitled to do what they want with a woman's body and end her life.

KitBumbleB · 26/11/2021 10:39

This is absolutely heartbreaking and devastating
Poor wee girl was just waiting for a bus
She only wanted to see her friends

We should all be able to go out without fear of being harassed, pestered, leered at, followed, touched, abducted, sexually assaulted or murdered

RaininSummer · 26/11/2021 10:54

Also in this city. Will look out for the group mentioned. I have seen little mention of this on mainstream news. Seems so many young women, any women, are murdered that it barely makes the news now.

Out council currently have an exhibition of 108 pairs of black shoes representing the women killed by men in 2020.

RIP Bobby-Anne.

And the first comment under the fb post is 'what about then men'
