I can't find a thread for her. I would like to talk about her and what has happened. It's been in national news.

@KitBumbleB

This is absolutely heartbreaking and devastating Poor wee girl was just waiting for a bus She only wanted to see her friends

We should all be able to go out without fear of being harassed, pestered, leered at, followed, touched, abducted, sexually assaulted or murdered

At 6pm in jeans and sweats with a charged phone, a travel plan shared with family at home and friends she was meeting, at a bus stop 4 minutes from her house in a sage residential area on a main road. Ffs she must have been snatch minutes after leaving her family home.

This just breaks my heart SadSad

Why do the murders of some women make headline news for weeks but others it's merely a passing comment for a day or two.

Every woman who is murdered should make headline news so people realise how horrifically common it is. (Unrealistic I know but you know what I mean)

Poor, poor girl and what an utter cunt for thinking he has the right to do that to her. Every one of us should be furious 🤬

lupinlass · 26/11/2021 11:24

I told DH about it yesterday. He reads the Times every morning.

His comment 'oh I must of missed that, not heard of her' Angry

It's shocking.

I had a big row with my partner this morning when she said that they'd caught the 24 year old killer and that he was a 'good looking, guitarist who probably could have had any woman he wanted.' 'What, wanted to kill, you mean? I don't see what his looks have to do with it!

I'm 55 and I'm feeling the World we live in is just getting more and more fucked up.

Her poor family & friends. My heart goes out to what they must be going through.

lupinlass · 26/11/2021 11:43

Pastypirate - I don't know. Either dh is a twat for skipping past it if it was or the Times didn't think she was worth a headline Sad

Where to even start with that comment - I wish you a hug and solidarity. I'm currently not speaking to my partner partly because of 'what about the men' comments. I can't speak to him about Bobbi that's for sure.

Please be careful with comments about the man arrested. Innocent until proven guilty. Nobody wants to make it impossible to have a fair trial. And the police have been known to arrest the wrong person.

KimikosNightmare · 26/11/2021 17:41

@pastypirate

The daily Mail and the sun are all over it.
I don't know if there is an element of prurience/ revelling in the goriness or the The Sun and The Mail simply genuinely believe these crimes deserve high levels of reporting, but whichever it is , they give far more coverage than the quality press.
MaryStuart · 26/11/2021 17:47

I just find it so depressing that yet another young woman has been murdered by a man.
RIP Bobbi-Anne.

And then I read this :

The Conservative leader of the city council, Nick Kelly, has been criticised after saying in an ITV News interview about the McLeod case: “Everybody has a responsibility to try to not put themselves in a compromising position.”

Prick.

MarshmallowSwede · 26/11/2021 18:11

I’m tired.. tired tired tired. Women and girls killed like it a sport for men!

I used to be a big fan of true crime, and the crime dramas. A lot do fans around the world of Scandinavian noir which I guess something to be proud of.

But I realised it was a lot of if not most of true crime involved women being murdered. And I just can’t listen or watch it anymore. I don’t want to use the murder and rape or whatever other violence has been done on a woman or girl to be my entertainment. It’s just for me personally it’s a level
Of fatigue on realising that it’s not going to get better for women or girls either.

Women and girls are murdered as often as the moon rises.

This was a saying I heard an older very wise lady say many years ago. And I never thought much of it. If you think about just how often it does happen it’s horrifying.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 26/11/2021 18:19

Just watching the news and a Year 8 girl, Ava White has been killed as well. She was 12!

I’ve just had enough now it’s bloody relentless Angry. What can we do? It just never changes seemingly. That poor young woman, whole life ahead of her, stamped out by some evil bastard who “couldn’t control himself/had a moment of madness” or some such shite Sad

pastypirate · 26/11/2021 21:32

I've just watched the vigil back. That lovely singer crying so much she couldn't get the words out at the end. Such utter horror in our city in 2021.

It reminded me of the murder of Alicia Eborne.

pastypirate · 26/11/2021 22:09

@CreepySpider

It reminded me of the murder of Alicia Eborne.
My mum keeps saying that. Now I've googled I've realised I don't remember it because I was living abroad at the time. Yes very similar circumstances. This current situation must really jar with Alicia's poor family.

Just joining this thread. I'm shocked at the lack media attention and really don't understand why. If I'm totally honest I'm also shocked at the killer. I know people who knew him and he seemed like a nice normal lad with good aspirations and they cannot believe it. He even went on to perform a gig that night 😔. Taking some one in a built up area that early in the evening is a big risk, and then to go on and perform a gig doesn't make sense. I hope they find out answers to what happened and what made him do it. I know we should not jump to conclusions but I do wonder if it's linked to porn or drugs.

IWasHotInTheNineties · 26/11/2021 22:38

I live in Plymouth too. We are all so angry and sad.
There is a go fund me for her family. I don’t know if I can share the link so I will just say that the link for it is on Plymouth Live.

BlackboardMonitorVimes · 26/11/2021 22:51

I live not far from plym and it's just so shocking how quiet the news is about this case. She mattered and we care.

TheWeeDonkey · 27/11/2021 09:28

RIP Bobbie Ann 💐

I read about this here and really had to search to find a news article. It comes to something when the cold blooded murder of a young girl is so mundane it gets barely a report.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 01/12/2021 17:02

Alicia's murderer was jailed for life in 2004, with the judge recommending he should serve at least 11 years. So he has probably been free for years now, getting on with his life like anyone else.

He said "I think I just grabbed her by the throat and the next thing I knew she was there in front of me unconscious or dead." Liar. People don't just die from being grabbed.

As you say, liar. He deliberately took the bus on a different route and killed her. I hope he is still in prison.

And now Amber age 16 in Lanarkshire Scotland. I posted on the other board that we should test and record every male’s DNA. We women could also refuse sex and housework support to males until the killing stops. So upset and angry.
