Not inspired by the other thread but related!
I've recently come across someone whose name is Jane Johnstone Johnstone. I've changed the actual name but you get the idea - her middle name is the same as her surname. I asked if this was correct. Apparently her dad was adamant that she had to have the surname as a middle name in case she one day gets married and changes her name. I was appalled! So proprietary...
