Surnames again

Not inspired by the other thread but related!
I've recently come across someone whose name is Jane Johnstone Johnstone. I've changed the actual name but you get the idea - her middle name is the same as her surname. I asked if this was correct. Apparently her dad was adamant that she had to have the surname as a middle name in case she one day gets married and changes her name. I was appalled! So proprietary...

Blimey. That's weird. Was it an ordinary name like your example or something unusual he thought might die out? Even then still pretty weird.
