That's how I found myself on Mumsnet.
Ditto, I think many of us found resources, advice and support that were just not available elsewhere. I certainly wouldn't have found out half of what I know about breastfeeding from a man who just bought a baby!
It's really important actually to have a space, online or otherwise, to talk about breastfeeding, if you want too.
I didn't want to give up but got thrush so badly I couldn't see how I could carry on. My GP couldn't help, the prescription actually made it worse, but grapefruit seed extract that I heard about from an MN poster, worked and I carried on until 13 months. It's something I'm really proud of (and my pride doesn't shame others), it's just something I really wanted to do and it was ultimately MN that helped make that possible.
It was a very bad ad campaign to start with, made worse by including and promoting a man who hasn't the first clue about pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.
Sometimes I'd actually like to see a man try it (though I wouldn't sacrifice a child's health for a man's validation) just to see how long they can manage to get up every two hours at the beginning and have regularly disturbed sleep for months and months, with mastitis and other infections and still function as a father.
Imagine the cluster feeds!
