some of us automatically transferred due to the threads we had open. this morning I was posting in feminism chat, go for one school run and actually do some housework and whoosh, find oneself on a new board.

looking at the threads, some poor sod has had to go through some of them and/write some code that separate (s) them into the two boards.

This still makes absolutely no sense to me. I can imagine quite a few threads will start in here then get shoved into the new section fairly soon after if they diverge or anything

I'm not sure what we're actually allowed to talk about in here? How do you talk about feminism without referencing the whole sex/ gender debate?

How will it avoid aggro from the aggressive males? They'd cry fowl if you said your hen laid eggs and not your rooster.

The easiest thing would be to use the other board the whole time and start each thread with a statement on what group of people are being talked about. Then it can't be moved.
It may mean some issues get double discussed, but that that happens all the time on MN anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Interesting to see that items like Jess de Wahl's has been shipped over. Surely women stating their belief that female oppression us based on their sex is the very basis of feminism?

This. Maybe MN will tell us women what we're allowed to talk about. That's not disturbing AT ALL.

What about threads which start about one topic (e.g. surrogacy) but then touch on the trans issue - i.e. if TWAW and people are only assigned a sex at birth how on earth can intended parents (potential buyers) determine which type of human can successfully carry a pregnancy? And how can we talk about the type of humans that are vulnerable to exploitation?

If there is a topic that discusses women's rights, that pertains to our sex. It should be in the SEX topic and should probably requested to be moved if it is not.

Such a shame, the FWR boards have been a real eye opening education for me.
I really hope the spirit and passionate debates are not lost.
I know I don't always see eye to eye with everything but I like to think I am an ally.

As a survivor of sex based violence who still struggles with ptsd as a result, I'm really disappointed with MNHQ. This is a craven and pathetic move as far as I'm concerned, especially given the lack of conversation from them.

Also the title of the other board is dire...might as well just call it "Coventry"!

What would happen if I went into every chat on the feminist bit and mentioned sex (which is pretty easy to do in light of you know the whole basis of feminism), would it then be moved to the sex and gender bit?

On the other hand reading all the thread titles (which according to the complainants didn't exist) which have been left here I'm struggling to see how sex or gender doesn't apply.
