So I can see how the board has been separated, even though I don't think it's a particularly great idea.
I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the eating in terms of how much traffic each board gets, and whether there is a sustained influx of new posters to the debate free board.

I am seriously pissed off about this, much more annoyed than I thought I would be. On point of principle I will not be posting in the new Kettling Pen for Difficult Women. I only come on here for the feminist chat so fear this may be the final straw that breaks my MN habit. Any suggestions for other websites etc that are not swimming against the Forstater judgement tide?

Well I am a bit distressed that sex based issues are still in Feminism Chat when they should be in the Sex section. Vice versa too.

It is demeaning to say that issues which effect or damage women, based on their sex, is not a sex based issue.

Plus, not sure what the basis for deciding what thread goes where given that feminism is an interdisciplinary approach to issues of equality and equity based on gender, gender expression, gender identity, sex, and sexuality as understood through social theories and political activism.

I’m pissed off, obviously, and will be watching how the board evolves and re-evaluating whether the reasons I pay for Premium membership still apply (I suspect they will; Mumsnet is still the epicentre for female- first discussion in the UK because of the undeniable physical link between female bodies and childbearing and the social link between childbearing and child rearing).

That said I can see an upside in that those monitors who found the honest, female-first discourse on FWR-as-was so distressing that they were forced, forced to complain repeatedly to MNHQ, advertisers, pink news and their Twitter followers can now be gently shown how to hide the Sex matters and Gender is a tool of oppression board so they don’t need to police it for everyone else.

I like it. The other board is called sex and gender debate, so that seems fair enough. I'm very much enjoying scrolling through the active threads here and picking up stuff I've missed.
I'll use both boards but I'm pleased to see a place where we can discuss feminism that's broader than the gender debate.

I'm sure there will be some cross over but I think its an improvement.

I think the previous poster suggestions of a board FOR pro gender politics would have resolved this better.

Then they could have had their space to talk about the various genders, discuss, debate amongst themselves and we would have had ours. Now we have two spaces where everyone gets confused about what goes where, and they still don't have a space.

Feminism which explores the consequences of being our sex, and discrimination based on our sex doesn't need the imposition of an anti feminist ideology battling down on it, or women having to pretend to not find it misogynistic.

Suddenly the channels for debate become obsolete or unavailable. Sex and gender are what feminism does: without those issues it doesn't exist. (And POOF! a valuable debating forum is redirected in a cloud of smoke).
