After i have my first son i started suffering panick attacks and got alot of anxiety, this took about 2 years to go away, now i'm 20 weeks pregnant again and i've started getting similar feelings i'm not sure what to do? I felt likemy anxiety spoiled some of the time i had with my son coz i was too busy worrying and panicking, i dont want to miss out again! What can i do? If i speak to my midwife what can she do?

Midwife can refer you to perenatal mental health services, so you could see a psych who specialises in problems during pregnancy. Thats what happened with me anyway.

I suffered from perinatal anxiety - a bit with DD1 and with DD2 it was terrible, ruined my pregnancy I was really quite ill.

The midwives didnot do anything and in the end DH took me to my GP and they referred me to the perinatal team.

i had support through a lovely woman who cam to teh doc surgery who dealt with mental health issues, and a woman on the perinatal team. There are loads of options there - from just talking to CBT to drugs - and it was up to me what I wanted to try.

Ask for help from your midwife - if no joy there try your GP - and keep going til you get help because it is available. Apparently as many people suffer anxiety/depression type problems during pregnancy as PND, but PND is much more well known.

Good luck
