I was first prescribed it for PND and was very nervous about taking it. After I took the first pill I felt my heart beating faster and couldn't sleep all night (and as my DS was barely sleeping then I almost gave up then and there). But after a few days I felt fine, just a slight "rush" a few hours after taking it. But after about 10 days I began to feel a real improvement and I can honestly say I wouldn't have got through without it. I know the reactions vary in people but I found it very positive, and when I decided to take myself off it 6 months later I had no problems just gradually reducing my dose.
So I would say be prepared for the symptoms maybe feeling a bit worse for a few days, but you'll come through it and hopefully feel much better .

The sleeplessness only lasted two nights, tops, and then got much better. i know how it feels when the idea of an even worse night is unthinkable but maybe try and plan something nice for yourself the next day and don't be too hard on yourself!

I've been taking Sertraline for about 6 months now and have had a really good experience. The only side effect has been a slightly acidic stomach.

I've taken many other AD's; Seroxat, Prozac, Effexor, etc, and didn't get on with them at all.

Hope they work for you

Hi Disenchanted3
Yes, had been on sertraline for over 4 years, off it now completely. First week felt a bit of a space cadet, sleepy, weird not-quite-there feeling, stuck with it, and it worked a treat, after about 7 days, I certainly began to feel a difference. It was so nice to go about things very even-tempered, calm, chilled out, normal, was able to deal with life so much better. (Seroxat and prozac didn't do the job for me.) Good luck!

Thanks,

Am feeling a bit dazed this morning and my ears feel a bit 'popped'

The worst thing though is I keep gagging, its like my gag reflex is on over drive even when I swallow saliva it does it

Hope that stops.

Didn't sleep too well either,

but stranbgly feel, well not less anxious yet, but a bit more upbeat.

Praobably a bit high
