Ok so in the last week I've had to come home to check teh oven, phoned a friend to get her to checkI'd shut tteh windows & worried all day about potentially crashing teh car - which I didn't but have been worrying about a near miss. am now obsesing about having kissed a freind with new babay when I have a cold - that the baby will get it & it will all be my fault.

am on the waiting list to see clinical psy but any mumsnet wisdom available in the mean time?

Ooh I wish I did have!!!

I will tell you what my husband tells me when I start to get like this...

"Nemofish darling we have a very safe 4star NCap car, and if you have a bump that is what insurance is for. Don't worry, it is unlikely to happen and if it does it is not the end of the world."

Babies get colds from all sorts of places, especially other babies, playgroups, GP's surgeries, their parents - don't worry. I wouldn't hold it against you if you gave my baby a cold.

My dh always tries to say 'well if it does happen, so what?' I'm not sur ehow helpful that is as I usually reply, 'I don't know, but... but... something terrible will happen!'

I hope that has helped... you are not the only one who gets like this, try and see it as part of your illness and not 'real' in the strictest sense - I know how hard that can be when I keep locking the back door to ensure the zombies can't get in (I know, I know!) Dh says not to worry as zombies can't cope with door handles anyway... can you tell he has been used to me and my odd ways for several years?!
