Changing from Citalopram to Prozac??

Hi,
Have been on 50mg's for the past 8 months or so after increasing dose slowly when I first went on them a year ago.
They have really helped with the anxiety I was suffering but not done much for my mood-am still very irritable, low at times, lack motivation etc and on top of this I have gained 2 stone over the past year-and no matter how much I am trying to diet and eat healthy and getting weighed weekly by the nurse-I have not lost 1lb.
I spoke to the nurse last night who said she would discuss this with the GP (as her and someone else had reported the same about struggling to loose weight) and today she has emailed me to tell me that the GP wants to swap me over to Prozac and that it would be a straight swap and I wouldn't have to wean off the Citalopram first.
Just wandered if anyone else has done this and how did they feel?
Is there something else I could take for the anxiety along with the prozac as I would honestly hate the anxiety and panic attacks to come back.

Thanks
x

I would talk to your GP about the change over. I went from citalopram to Prozac when I was younger because the dosage was higher. On citalopram I'd never had anxiety, just acute depression, but when on Prozac I did start getting panic attacks - in all honesty I don't know if that was linked because there were tons of other factors at play at the time. But worth talking through with your GP before swapping.

good luck
