Ok after finally seeing my GP he has prescribed sertraline and is referring me to psych team. Was so gobsmacked that I didn't ask anything about what happens now. Any advice or anybody been through the same thing?

Hi - seeing a psych team enabled them to monitor medication (as gp not experts), doses and to see what support they can offer. They may offer you an initial assessment, then as they work as a multidisciplinary team see what they can offer you.

It helps if you can tell them your symptoms, how it is affecting you I found. Also not to expect to tell your life story in one go, or even know how or what causing need for sertaine/other meds.

They are used to people being unsure and concerned, do ask any questions you have, including what happens next and time frame. You have the right to receive copies of official letters from them that go to your gp, but you have to request these if you want them. No cost.

Hope it goes ok foryou.
