As title says what can be done? He says it everyday and said to his Aunt he could just hang himself from the tree across the road. The doctors just turned him away and out him on a waiting list...

This is very serious, threats of suicide should always be treated as serious.

Who is this, a family member of yours?

If so, you could take them to A&E. There is always an on-call psychiatrist and a crisis team who will take the person on and make daily visits at home.

Awful situation to be in.

Does he really want to die or is he just desperate because he can't see any way out?

If he wants help find someone who can take him to A&E today.

Agree with others, you can turn up at A+E and ask for on-call psychiatrist. You could also see a different gp and ask for referral to the local community and mental health team for more local and regular support.

Has he ever attempted it?
