Is there a support thread for partners of those with depression?

Asking for a friend whose DH is currently in hospital.

Those of us around her are helping with child-care and listening/supporting as much as we can but I know from personal experience of Al-anon that having someone who really knows what you are going through can help far more than friends and family, however well meaning.

Thanks

There isn't one at the moment (did you ask this question on chat too?) but this can be the start of one if your friend wants to post?

As I said my dh has had clinical depression for many years although not bad enough for hospitalisation so I would be happy to chat and other people will post too.

Thanks for that, I thought I'd try Mental Health first but will have a go in Chat later.

That's not what I meant - someone asked the same question in chat and I responded. I thought it was you. I think MH is the best place. It only takes one message to start a support thread, there doesn't have to be an existing one IYSWIM.

Try this

Hiya, here is a thread from last year where we were all chatting for a while, hopefully it might help a little, feel free to revive it...

How wonderful that your friend has people around who can help.
I would be interested in the thread too. My DH has bi-polar disorder and can be extruciatingly hard to live with sometimes, and in the past has been hospitalised with the depression.
I hope your friend is ok.

Thank you everyone, and sorry to misunderstand you willsurvivethis!

I will link this to my friend and let her take it from there - she isn't a MNettter at the moment but I think she needs some good old MN support.

Thanks again and best wishes to you all.
