Hi I've been prescribed citalopram 20mg. I started taking them on Friday and I feel very strange, I've got a really unpleasant taste in my mouth and feel very sick all the time. I know that there are side-effects with these drugs, but can anyone tell me how long this will last?

I agree, about 2 weeks and it should settle down.

Hi Depechemodefan

Thanks for that, I can cope with the side-effects if I know that they aren't going to be forever.

Did you find that your appetite was affected? I haven't really been hungry since friday, I'm not finishing my food when I do eat either. Thats one side-effect I wouldn't mind keeping

Hi, I have been taking Citalopram for about 4 months and feeling fine now. I felt very odd for the first week or so, but it does get better! I also had the loss of appetite too but unfortunately it didn't last Hope you feel better soon

I have been taking it for far too long and would add to the other ladies experiences, the side effects for me didn't last long, each time I have increased the dosage they have returned but once again only for a couple of weeks.

Hoping they help you feel better soon

Thanks ladies!

I do feel better knowing that the side-effects don't last too long.

Just wish I could find the energy to actually do something today.
