Been referedfor CBT, still not heard anything and its been getting worse.

I wanted to try CBT before I tried pills but they way ive been the last few weeks im no longer sure.

I am dreading my initial assesment because im scared but am also desperate for my appointment to come as I cant cope with these feelings anymore.

Im a wreck, its ruining my life

If you feel you can't cope at all it is best to back and tell them - if your anxiety is so bad a dose of SSRIs may actually help you to engage with CBT as your anxiety levels will be slightly lower.

in the sort term they may give you a low dose of diazepam or lorazepam. It will take the edge off your anxiety and give you a bit of peace for a while.

Best to save them only for emergencies though as they soon lose their effectiveness if taken frequently and can also be addictive.

So sorry you are going through this. It's awful you are having to wait so long. Sometimes I think if you haven't got a limb hanging off or something they think you are not "urgent", however, anxiety is very urgent IMO and the suffering involved is immense.

I do think you should go back tomorrow and be honest with the GP about the impact it is having on your life right now.

Thanks, I really wanted to avoid themm but now I'm thinking 'if it helps, it helps'

Things in the news and on TV have just esculated it so badly.
