CITROPLAM

Hi everyone,

I'm on 20mg of citroplam and have been since nOV, the first few week's were hard with side affects etc but once they had gone the AD was amazing i felt my self again and really happy, all my panic attacks and anxiety had finally gone i was amazed!!

But the last few day's i have felt the anxiety creeping back and in result worried so much that the deppresion and panic attacks were comming back.

Has anyone ever had this? I'm so scared that i am going to go back to how i was, which makes me upset that this will be it for the rest of my life and it will never go away or get better :-(

I started citalopram in November too and did also start to feel a bit edgy last week. Just things creeping back a bit. Weirdly, though, this has completely subsided this week and I am now feeling very calm and content. It's quite a nice feeling.

I was wondering if I needed a slightly higher dose now that my body is used to it and I will continue to watch things but I wonder if what we've both experienced is normal?

I did notice that it started creeping around the same time my period was due, and thought maybe the hormones were making me feel like this, but now period is finished that nagging anxious feeling is still there i dont know if it is waiting to explode again.

Yes i wonder if it is normal? also if i also need a higher dose as i really don't want to go up as my and DH was hoping to ttc soon and have been told i have to come off the tablets so the doctor wanted to start weaning me off.

My symptoms were also when my period was due but they have subsided. I think, maybe, you should speak with your GP but I thought that you could safely take Citalopram while pregnant (although I completely understand that you might not want to). Maybe a different type of AD would suit you better?

I did get this and my dose was upped. In the end, I was on the highest dose. I needed it to get through some of the tough times in therapy and one or two difficult life events. Eventually I reduced again and have been off it altogether now for some years.

The dosage thing seems to be more of an art than a science. Your body adjusts to it so you need more, or you need more help at certain times like me, or you as an individual may need more than others do. Do go back to your doctor. It's a really good idea to have regular reviews of your prescription anyway. You may find a change to something else helps you to stay on a lower dose.
In the meantime do try daily exercise if you possibly can, because it can help enormously.
