How can i help a friend?

A friend i havn't seen for 9 years has just contacted me through facebook, she's a lovely person and we were good friends through college. She has some learning difficulties and suffers from epilepsy, she always found life hard (not being able to drink and being over weight due to the medication she was on).

Anyway she has just told me she is on anti d's and signed herself into a clinic a few months ago as she felt she could harm herself. I don't really know any details (how she's feeling or why).

She lives 20 minutes away and i have offered to meat up with her if she wants a chat.

My dh suffers from depression and has been on anti d's on and off for 6 years, i know that having depression is nasty but i have never had it myself (felt down a few times).

If i meet up with her how can i help her?

I think the fact that you care, will help her a great deal. Let her do most of the talking (if she is willing), be prepared to listen a lot and not to judge. It's great you are only 20 mins away - maybe you could make short but regular meet ups ~(depression can make you tire easily as you prob know from your DH)
Well done for wanting to help, I hope it goes well x
