I wouldn't know where to start to begin to explain but it worked, i felt better etc

except now i still want to do it - although i don't have the NEED to do it if that makes sense?

well if it worked - that;s good! And exercise is very good for your mood too so added bonus.

I heard a tip once re. SH. If you really feel the need to do it, get an ice cube and hold it against your skin. It will really hurt but you will not inflict an actual injury.

MerlinsBeard · 17/01/2010 21:34

you see, the ice cube thing never worked with me

I would love to be able to do that! I don't SH, but feel very self-destructive at times and have banged my head against walls etc. and deliberately not eaten despite feeling really hungry. I wish I didn't have to dress up four children and drag them all with me to do that - it sounds like a great way to beat off the black dog.

The DCs were left with DH who had no choice!!

I have left them with DH in the past, but just stormed to the end of the road. Maybe I should just walk and walk like you next time. Mostly my meltdowns happen when I'm on my own with the DDs though - probably the pressure of knowing I have no outlet makes it all the worse.

GetDownYouWillFall · 17/01/2010 21:38

perhaps the walking worked because it was in some way pushing, or punishing your body in a physical way, similar to SH?

MerlinsBeard · 17/01/2010 21:41

was going to run - hence DH not being surprised that i needed to go out - but my breathing has not been right this last few days and didn't want to need paramedics to help me run lol!
