Is anyone on/previously taken paroxotine?

My DP has been prescribed paroxotine for agoraphobia/anxiety. Slightly concerned by the (usual) lengthy list of side effects. Has anyone had any experience of this medicine?
DP is delaying starting it, as even if he doesn't find it works, it suggests weaning off the medicine can make you very moody.

have been on paroxetine (seroxat), they didn't know about the discontinuation problems then but now much more is known about how to withdraw it gradually to minimise the effects

it wasn't right for me (have bipolar) but you have to weigh up the possibility of it helping against the likelihood of some unpleasantness when he stops taking it - how bad is the anxiety and agoraphobia?

Mild, but it stops him from going to certain places that would trigger his anxiety.

I found paroxetine extremely helpful for my anxiety/panic disorder, as well as depression. I've been on and off it for 10 years, and was totally well and symptom-free during that time.

However, last year I had to come off it because I wanted to get pregnant (still working on that). The withdrawal/weaning process is meant to be hellish, but I came off it very slowly over a period of 9 months and had no withdrawal symptoms.

Hope this helps.
