citalopram and forgetfulness???

I am on 20mg citalopram and actually considering stopping taking it. because i think i dont need it anymore, i forget to take it quite alot, i think i forgot for two days in a row - took tab today. But yesterday, the oven had clearly been on - it was hot, but i hadn't cooked anything and have no recall of switching oven on or off - if i had left it on from the night before it would have still been on, but it was off just clearly been on recently. Tonight i nearly blew the kitchen up, put the potatos on, switched the gas on but didnt ignite it, there was anotehr burner burning at the time .

So, either im going mad (quite possible ) or we have a ghost, or not taking my tablets is making me forgetful.

I am generally quite an absent minded person.

Just wondered if anyone else had experience of this, also wondered what to expect if i cut to 10mg?

I want to stop taking tabs now, but DP seems to notice straight away if i havent taken my tablets and i do feel uptight with DD.

It is just possible that you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms - as indeed the way forward is to go down to 10mg not just stop!

The uptightness would easily be explained that way, the forgetfulness I don't know but it would not surprise me.

I have been on Citalopram (and am probably about to go back on it - but thats another story!) and it made me really forgetful and easily confused (I am quite forgetful and easily confused anyway but this was worse!) But as madmouse says you shouldnt just stop, speak to your GP about cutting down s/he may suggest 10mg a day or 20 every other day.
I hope it all works out for you.
