Does anyone know if I can take my newly prescribed citalopram (been on it before btw, just new this time round!) with zimovane sleeping tablets? I forgot to ask the doctor and would really like a night's sleep tonight. many thanks

You really need professional advice on that one - I recommend NHS Direct

Where have you got the sleeping tablets from?

smartmars · 31/12/2009 19:48

they're from my doctor a few weeks ago. I have just been taking them occasionally so forgot to ask if they were safe with citalopram, which I began 3 days ago. NHS direct is a good idea, thanks

My dh was prescribed sleeping tabs with citalopram, think his is ambien though, always best to just use them when you are desperate for sleep and not in a regular basis.
Check with nhs direct or with your pharmacist.

I do know it is safe to take tamazpam or diazipam with a 20mg dose of citalopram. (not both obviously ) Not heard of your sleeping tabs though.

I will text someone I know with proper medical quals who can check if you like?

Hope you get a good nights sleep - I have recently had my first experiences with anxiety and the no sleep was the worst part

thank you so much, that'd be great. Its horrible isn't it, how are you doing?

If you're not in bed all ready, I take 20mg Citalopram and am just off to take 7.5mg Zopiclone with my GP's blessing. It's such a relief to know you can get a good night's sleep. Have a good night!

It seems that if you are not on an MAOI AD (which Cit is not) then it should be fine.

DSis is a bit busy to advise as on a night shift! bless her!

Thanks for asking - am doing OK as long as DH is - I seem to react to his moods - he is depressed. Life is a bit poo atm for us all but we will get through it - tomorrow is a New Year - and an even number too - which seems to be our thing. Odd years are when bad stuff happens!

I take 20mg citalopram, and 7.5 Zopiclone/Zimovane every day - have done for over a year now.

I used to take 75mg effexor with 5mg zopiclone and was fine...just stay off the booze!
Currently now take 40mg citalopram and 5mg diazepam as and when, and get a wonderful nights sleep when things are going rough.

Thank you so much everyone, had a good night last night and feeling better xx
