Having zero confidence is ruining my life

I am not sure what to do about it, or if anything can be done. I am certainly not confident enough to even seek any proper help about it, assuming that there is any anyway.

I have never had bags of confidence anyway, but since I left school 16 years ago it has diminished at an alarming rate and things that I try to do to improve it actually end up making it worse.

I avoid doing things and going to places because of it and thats bad isn't it.

Yes lack of confidence is bad full stop - but you know that. Can you seek help through the doctor i.e. councelling.

I don't know tbh. My gp is pretty rubbish. I keep meaning to change actually.

It just makes me feel so stupid, I mean why am I nervous about going into a shop that I have gone into most days since I have lived in this area ? There is no reason to be, but yet I am, and will avoid if at all possible.

I passed my driving test in July and instead of improving my confidence it has made it worse because I hate driving and will think of all the excuses under the sun not to.

I chucked my ex out nearly 4 years ago and again instead of improving my confidence, it plummeted.

Well done for kicking ex out (presuming he was a git)and for passing your test. The driving thing is just practice - force yourself to drive everyday even if around the same route, and you will improve. I hated it for a while too, now love it. You need to talk to somebody - what about the nurse at the GP practice. The nurses are often better than the docs anyway.

MrsMorgan · 27/12/2009 10:52

Hadn't thought of seeing the nurse instead. Will try and make myself go.

I was so so pleased with myself when I passed my test, but then I had a bump and it was downhill from there. It would help if I were working and so would have to use the car every day iykwim.

Confidence self help books can help - try the library.
