I have been advised to try clomipramine to help my ocd - I have had it once before, many years ago when it was first diagnosed - I don't feel it made much difference, though it is highly rated for ocd - I feel unwilling to try it again as I associate it with a very bad time in my life - my ocd is a lite version these days I think,in comparison.
I have checked that effexor is good for ocd, plus it seems to have fewer side effects- these are something I fear greatly..also it is compatible with tamoxifen which I am taking as treatment for breast cancer. The psych. said that effexor is more suitable for men, because of 'sweating' ! is this a problem ? thank you !!

I took efexor for 7 years, don't recall any problem with sweating! I took it for recurrent major depression, so can't speak to its effectiveness for OCD though.

I took Effexor for about 4 months. It gave me terrible headaches and I was put back onto Prozac. Didn't notice any sweating.

Again, mine was for recurrent depression though so I don't know how effective it is for OCD.
