will my boy need AD's

Hello,

I am taking 5mg citalopram daily and bf my 12 week old boy. every time i try to reduce the tablets or stop taking them i have awful withdrawal symptoms and so i continue to take them. however i am very scared that this will mean my beautiful and happy little boy will need them when he stops having my milk? Has anyone else bf whilst taking citalopram? any advice would be greatly appreciated. x

I'm not an expert, and I don't know much about citalopram, but I would have thought that they would only be licenced for use in breastfeeding mothers if there is not enough secreted in your bm to affect the baby. So I doubt whether he would suffer withdrawal.

TBH, I think maybe this is your anxiety speaking, not you, IYSWIM. Take your medication, discuss your worries with your doctor, and enjoy your beautiful and happy little boy for now. Cross this bridge later.
