Sorry but this was started I notice when I was talking (rather too much) on msn with her. I think I may have said some things I shouldn't have!

HappyHuggy · 20/06/2005 11:26

btw - on the other thread thank you for saying you want to rather than have to talk to me, that means a lot but I really am fed up with leaning on others. I am just tired of it all actually. The samaritans email is bizarre to take about 12hrs or so to come back - I think thats a bit useless becasue when you write stuff you kind of want to know someone is reading it and taking you seriously. Never mind, I'll find another avenue but not sure this will include opening my gob to anyone!

Sax · 21/06/2005 11:45

Queenflounce - could I have a word?

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 11:56

Whats up ma dear?

charleepeters · 21/06/2005 11:57

Your a popular lady Queen Flounce

Sax · 21/06/2005 11:57

Sorry, are you in demand this morning?

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 11:58

lol Charleepeters! Not really.

Whats up Sax?

Sax · 21/06/2005 11:59

I didn't want to post this on the the other thread because I don't want babynovice to start her anti ds believing they are not going to work.

I just need some advice before I speak to the GP if thats alright?

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 12:00

No probs.

Sax · 21/06/2005 12:02

In your opinion, and I know you took the homeopathic ones - what exactly should the tablets do

ie. I'm calmer

I have less panics

I don't feel so wobbly inside

BUT

I still cannot motivate myself properly and I can feel it all building up again - ds2 threw a paddy earlier at the nursery when we were leaving and i started to shake!!! It didn't come to anything cos he calmed down

but I know a lot of depression has to be sorted from me changing - do you think I should say - the tablets aren't working, aren't strong enough or what???

Sax · 21/06/2005 12:04

my friend who I relied heavily on to email has too many problems herself and cannot deal with mine too so I don't know if this is why I suddenly feel out on a limb! I don't want her to take me off the tablets and feel up the air and so I'm a bit confused as to what to say!

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 12:06

Sax - They don't seem to be doing enough for you.... although they are certainly making a difference. It may well be just a change of dose thats required? Tell the GP you are a bit calmer, but still feel like you could tip over the edge at any time. It think its pretty much trial & error to get the right medication.... so please don't be disheartened.

Could you try Sepia at the same time??? It's not an AD. You can buy it in Boots or Holland & Barrett for about £4 for a months supply!

Sax · 21/06/2005 12:06

I'll be back in 15mins as just going to get ds1 from nursery - hope you may give me some advice before I speak to gp - she's ringing me this afternoon between patients I think!

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 12:07

COming off the tablets quickly will NOT help you. Changing the dose probably will though.

Which AD's are you on and what dosage?

Sax · 21/06/2005 12:09

I think I will Queenflounce - I must start listening more to advice and taking it rather than thinking I know best cos I really don't know anything LOL.

I am fine today which is why I rang the gp. I'm bloody hopeless if I'm not fine cos I don't say a word so I was hoping to speak to her when I can at least have words coming out my gob.

thank you for the advice, maybe they are just not strong enough.

cheers

Sax · 21/06/2005 12:10

I'm only on 20mg citalopram (when I said I might, I meant buy some sepia!!!!)

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 12:11

Try the Sepia.... nowt to lose eh?

Sax · 21/06/2005 12:15

can you take that as well as the anti Ds?

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 12:23

Sax - It's homeopathic so you can take it with anything.
Have a look at this link.... LOADS of great advice.

Remember, be armed with knowledge!

Fab Site!

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 12:28

This is fantastic advice too.

Coping/self-help

Self - help involves a number of different approaches and techniques which may alleviate or even prevent mild depression. These techniques are complementary to professional treatment, and should not be seen as alternatives to it.
Sharing experiences: Depression can often be alleviated by talking to other people in similar situations. Depression Alliance coordinates a national network of self-help groups where members can meet on a regular basis to share experiences and coping strategies. We also coordinate a pen-friend service and offer a correspondence scheme for people affected by depression.

Gathering information: Finding out more about depression can reduce the misconceptions, guilt and fear which are often associated with the condition. A wide range of leaflets, videos, and tapes on depression are available from Depression Alliance; you could also look in your local library or on the internet. Contact Depression Alliance for our Depression Reading List, which suggests useful books, tapes and websites on depression.

Relaxation: Depression is frequently associated with tension, stress and anxiety. There are many ways to relax - yoga, reading, listening to a relaxation tape, going away for a short holiday- find out what works for you and give yourself time to wind down.

Exercise: Many people with depression experience a loss of energy and constant feelings of tiredness. Taking some form of gentle exercise will make you feel more positive.

Changes to your diet: Depression can affect your appetite so try to make sure that you eat regular, appropriate amounts. Missing out valuable nutrients can also make people feel tired and run down, so try to include fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet.

Pursuing interests: Try to continue with any hobbies or interests you have. It may be difficult whilst you are depressed, especially if you have difficulty concentrating, but this will help you to feel better.

scrreeeeechhhhhhh - info overload - shit, I'll have to read this at leisure. First things first, I've bought some sepia and will discuss the anti Ds with dr this afternoon if she rings.

I am trying you know to sort myself out, I don't want to just give up and say, well this is where I am and this is where I must stay. I hope this is evident even if I do struggle with the expressing out loud thing!

thank you for the info queenflounce, you are a gem!

QueenFlounce · 21/06/2005 13:50

Fantastic News Sax!! Yes you are trying to sort yourself out.... I think you've come a long way just in the past week or so. It makes a big difference just discussing it and finding out you're not alone.

Proud of you girl!

Get crunching some Sepia right now!
