Hypnotherapy anyone?

Hi

I've posted a few times recently about my experiences with anxiety, citalopram and mirtazapine. Anyway, I am now off all medication, feeling positive and energetic for a change, but terrified that the anxiety will build up to unmanageable levels again. I am considering hynotherapy as an alternative to medication. Has anyone else tried this?

Hi Moodyblue,

I have tried hypnotherapy in the past and found it to be really helpful! I never finished my course, but I wish I had! Would def consider it again in the future! I found it to be very relaxing!

Hope it works for u!

Thanks yommymommy. Can I ask how long the course was? I'm hoping not to have to go too many times as it's so expensive!

Hi moodyblue,

How long you go for all depends on how well you respond to it! My therapist gave me a cd and told me the more often I listened to it the less sessions I would probably need! I would think maybe about 6 to start with, then you could go for refreshers every now and then if u felt you needed them!

Def worth a try though!

Although I was slightly skeptical about Hypnotherapy, I was desperate to try whatever I could to try and beat my depression/anxiety. I had tried so many othre things which just hadn't worked-especially didn't get on with ADs.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I booked myself a hypno session (hour and a half £90)thinking "am I wasting money I just can't afford to waste?".After the session, I immediately felt more positive but thought it might just be because I had made the effort to do something positive for myself. But amazingly the positivity has not gone away-if anything it has got stronger each day! I can hardly believe it myself-keep wondering if it's a co-incidence (maybe I'd have felt better anyway?)or it really has worked miracles. But if my new found energy/joy is due to the hypno then it was the best £90 I have ever spent.
I only had one session, but was given a tape of the session to use on my own at home to re-enforce it/self hypnotise myself so to speak at other times.

Anyway, all I can say is for me it has been totally life changing-I no longer wake up with a feeling of dread and feeling sick with anxiety, but am excited and looking forward to the coming day.
I know it must sound wierd (I could never have imagined such a brilliant outcome) but I'd say if you have the cash give it a go, and hopefully you too will reap the benefits of it
