I deliberately took too many tablets last night, I've been struggling to cope since a meltdown last October. I'm taking my ad's religiously (didn't take too many of them)

Needless to say, I've been feeling shocking today, falling asleep all day and feeling really sick. I've been drinking water and had something to eat and feel ok now.

I feel another trip to the docs and being fobbed off again coming on

I'm going to bed now, I'm shattered.

I don't really know what to say...

Do you want to talk about what has brought you to this crisis point? Would it be helpful?

It sounds as if you need to change GP, if you're feeling unheard when you're at such a dangerously low point that is serious. Please find another GP.

I've been with the same surgery for years, the only doctor that has listened to me moved abroad a while ago. DH has no idea I still feel like this, though he has moved the scissors i used to self harm with.

I'm scared of talking to my really close friends in case I scare them off.

So, you didn't want to kill yourself but you did want to cry out for help?

I'm not surprised, I'm constantly disheartened by the attitude of GPs when it comes to mental health. It's as if they really don't know what to do and would rather fob you off than deal with it.

Call The Samaritans if you ever feel like that again on 08457 90 90 90.

Change GPs. Refer yourself to a CPN. Contact your local hospital and ask for the Mental Health Team - they will be able to fast-track your referral and give you some much needed advice. You are not alone, there are thousands of women out there feeling exactly the same. You need treatment - hope you get it soon.

Thank you for answering. I did have counselling last year (not sure if MHT are the same) and all she told me was that I act like a child etc, left me feeling disheartened, I've had depression for years and only recently felt like this.

what have you taken too many of?

some things eg paracetomol are toxic even once you start feeling better....if you have taken too much of this it is urgent and you should get yourself to casualty asap and not wait to see gp.....if anything else, ring nhs direct to check

Lovemyshoes · 25/03/2009 21:07

I really do need to sleep now, don't/can't sleep at the minute and I need to curl up with dh and cat and at least chill.

Even change surgery's if needed. If no other GP's in your surgery are listening when you're in such distress and at such a crisis... You need to find a surgery and GP that will listen and help you.

I wish I knew how to research GP's who actually knew their arse from their elbow in these circumstances.

pollywobbledoodle · 26/03/2009 10:28

are you ok?
did you check out what you'd taken as an overdose?
