Really bad PMT beginning to affect my life...any suggestions for remedies?

Since having dd2 I am getting really bad PMT that lasts about a week before, and sometimes during my period. During that time I really really cannot cope with my children, end up shouting all the time and generally not being a very nice Mum.

I haven't taken the pill for years because the last one I tried made me feel like I had PMT all the time.

I'd really like to try taking something that might relieve the feelings of anger and annoyance. Any suggestions? I'm prepared to try natural or medical remedies. Anything really as it is really beginning to affect my relationship with my children.

I know exactly how you feel heartinthecountry...it is so awful, especially when you know you are being unfair and irrational but simply have no control over your emotions.
I take a seven seas hormonal balance supplement which has magnesium, zinc and vit B6 as well as evening primrose and it makes a huge difference but takes a couple of months to really work. You can also try agnus castus which is really effective (femlieve in boots). I still have the odd mad day but so much better than 2 weeks of hell .

A friend told me she used starflower, and it really helped her. I use evening primrose oil (to ease discomfort) but it seems to stop me feeling so crabby as well, tho possibly as I hardly feel any discomfort anymore!
