I have finally plucked up the courage to go to my gp about terrible pms and she has given me info on a new contraceptive pill called Yasmin. It contains a progestogen called drospirenone whcih apparently doesn't have the downside of other progrestogens. My question is has anyone tried it and has it been effective.

The GP seemed mainly to be advocating taking SSRI's but I thought it might be worth giving the pill a go first.

Been on it for 3 years so don't think it's THAT new!

I got pregnant on it but apparently that was very unlucky, I was the 0.01%. I still get PMS on it but not as bad as my last contraceptive pill.

You haven't got anything to lose really, give it a try n see!

I asked my GP about this and he prescribed me Marvelon, said he wasn't sure about Yasmin because it was so new I am on the pill for exactly the same reason though, but not been on Marvelon long enough yet to really guage any difference. I hope it works for you though
