Hello
I am really interested to hear any stories you have of how music helped someone with Alzheimers.
I am doing an assignment on this at the moment and trying to collect some stories.
A couple I know which I think are lovely are of an elderly man who had not spoke for years picked up a violin from a visitor who came to his care home and started to play many songs, although they were not in tune. The staff could clearly hear the melodies. They were not aware that he had ever played an instrument so it must have been a long time since he had held a violin yet some part of his brain locked all those notes away.
Another story is about a lady with Alzheimers who had lost the ability to talk but would sing instead so she would sing down the telephone to her sister.
If you know similar stories to these then I would love to hear from you.
I also noticed on here that if an organisation is researching I gues for marketing purposes then you have to pay £30 but I am guessing that does not apply to students like me?
I am an old mumsnetter from 2002 so I hope I am allowed to do this. I'm sure someone will tell me off if not
Many thanks
Shirley
