HI all
Am hoping I will be able to help at least one of you, have 2 babies, eldest 2.5 and youngest 13 wks. When first was 7 months, went into a M&B unit fo 5 months, with severe depression, self harming and puerperal psychosis.
Second baby was a surprise, had to take AD's and lithium in pregnancy. Monitored all through an we are both OK. Have recently been diagnosed with Bipolar and though I thought it would be the end of the world, it actually has helped me to understand my madness for the last 10 years!!
It's been a hard slog and have wanted to die many times. HANG IN THERE....it will get better.
Whatever you do, if you are down, don't take the pill or any other hormonal contraceptive..it won't help!!
Good luck all XXXXXXXXX

pleased to hear you've found your way through
have you thought about volunteering in some way to help others going through what you did?

Lewismia · 22/11/2008 13:20

Hello Lewismia - mothersvoice are always keen to find supportive volunteers. have a look at www.mothersvoice.org.uk or email me [email protected] There is a specific PP area there as well as pnd, Antenatal illness and birth trauma. We work alongside specialists from mother and baby units too.

I agree 100% about the hormones too!
