Question about citalopram

seems that there are a few people on here with experience of this drug.

I have been prescribed it to take whilst having CBT for PTSD.

so my main question is if it is likely to make me a bit drowsy/ other side effects for the first few days is it better to be taking it at night or in the morning?

I thought at night then if it makes me drowsy I will be sleeping tostart with anyway but then I figured it could take some time to get into your system so perhaps a different time of day would be better so that it gets into my system whilst I am in bed.

I hope some of this ramble makes sense..

any thoughts anyone?

I have been on citalopram for a couple of years (almost off it now). I have been on it for PND. I just took it every morning because that meant if I forgot to take it I had the rest of the day to remember.

It did make me quite spaced out for the first few days. I actually started to feel it about 3/4 hours after I took the first pill. After that I was fine. It does take a while to work so I think the most important thing is to remember to take it!

Do you have to take it at the same time every day?

My GP recommended taking it at night, so that the majority of the side-effects were overnight. Even so, I was very sleepy and spaced-out for the first couple of weeks.

It's best to take it at the same time every day - partly so that you have the dose spaced out evenly and partly so that it becomes part of your routine. You can take it late if you forget, though.
