Well after months of feeling terrible and giving my poor hubby a really hard time, I went to the doctors and he diagnosed PND even though my DD is now 14 months old. When we look at it I've been like this since she was 6 months old but chose to ignore it all!

The doctor has given me citalopram 10 mg once a day, he started me on half for four days then full dose, so far apart from feeling very tired I haven't noticed any side effects?

So my question is, can I expect any side effects and how long will they take to work? I've seen some posts where some people have had trouble coming off them, but I thought they weren't addictive or am I being extremely naive??

Now is not the time to be worryign about the other end of the process, truly, just see if they work for you first! coming off them is hard, but it depends very much on your circumstances. Last time I came off mine, I was working part time, had no dependants, could sleep all I liked, and do it super super slowly, and it was a breeze. This time, well, it's a different story (posted on that thread just now :-) ...

I took a variant of citalopram, but they are pretty much the same. I was lucky that I started to feel better in a matter of days (not quite a week), but did have some weird symptoms, floating, not quite dizzy, but as if you've moved your head too quickly. Does that make any sense at all??
Got a slightly numb mouth too, but both of these left in a day or so. Tiredness was definitely the main problem, and that passed too....

As you will see in another post, I have friends who have been diagnosed 2/3/4 years post-partum, so don't worry about that....

Good luck

I started on these nearly two weeks ago for depression my main side effects have been yawning alot, sweaty face and for a couple of nights disturbed sleep but I am starting to feel alot brighter. I had them before and coming off them was not a big deal either - was reduced from 20 to 10 mg then down to one every other day and then I just stopped I know some people do have bad withdrawal symptoms but I didnt - good luck hope you feeling better soon
