I started on these last Friday and since Monday I have had really bad sleep disturbance - had these in the past and did not have this affect on me - anyone experienced this and does it wear off - dont think I can take the no sleep thing that alone will make me depressed?

Thanks

hi there, i take these, and found they affected my sleep to start with, i now take my tablet first thing in the morning, and as my body has got used to them, my sleep has improved a great deal.

the worst side affect for me is it makes me sweat a lot i am overweight, but not normally sweaty. its nots bad in the cold weather but in the summer it was horrendous, spent the whole time in the bath/shower

what dose are you on?? i take 40mgs, i dont know if that has anything to do with it though. i was prescribed mine for anxiety mostly, and im really happy with how i feel now.
however i am see a great psychologist, and think thats what helping me the most.
really hope you are feeling a little better soon.
xx

I take citalopram and had problems with disturbed sleep when I first started taking them. I had really vivid horrible dreams. They lasted a couple of weeks maybe.

I also had nausea to start with but that too only lasted a couple of weeks.

I was on 40mg but am now on 20mg as I'm slowly starting to cut down. I am really glad I take them as the combination of them and CBT has really really helped me.

I am on 20 mg - and last time I had these I sweated and yawned alot but not the sleep disturbance - I am taking mine at night so perhaps I could try taking it in the morning what do you think?

insomnia

VinegarTits · 07/11/2008 13:02

sorry i only read the title and not the op (lazy ass) yes i had, insomnia, it does wear off eventually

OrmIrian · 07/11/2008 13:03

Sweaty and so so sleepy to start with. Get the odd restless night but not sure that's to do with the citalopram or the kitten that insists on co-sleeping

But I feel 200% better than without them so worthwhile for me.

I take mine before breakfast.

matildax · 07/11/2008 13:25

yes unhappy, try to take them in the morning, first thing.
me too ormirian, they really work for me also.
could do without the sweaty side affect, but im just so so happy with the improvement in my general mental health, that it does not really matter.

Thanks guys really knackered cant take the insomnia thing will try taking them in the morning instead - I think GP suggested taking them at night last time round because of nausea

my DH has recently been put on these. he takes them in the morning as he found they affected his sleep a bit (but not half as much as our 9 month old !)

he said he felt stiff and crampy inititally, but this seems to have dissipated now.
