I have struggled over the years because when i became pregnant with my daughter i was still attending a day hospital as well as being unstabaly housed as well as a broken relationship but hey! I was still an intelligent, sensitive, moral and desperately hopeful human being! I think when you have nothing materially you HAVE to draw on a deeper strenght however cleched that sounds! Just because you are a woman not protected by the norms of a traditional relationship does that make you any less of a person? I was in a homeless hostel for the majority of my pregnancy but i fought for a part of me that did not get beaten down by the needles on the floor, the faeces smeared up the walls and goodness knows thoughts of throwing myself out of the window passed through my head! But i wanted better( but not in a kind of fuck-them-all hardened way). I was a poet and i am still seven years on

I dont think what you physically have at any time defines you as a person-you yourself can only do that .

as a child I witnessed some terrible things that I would desperately try to avoid my children having to endure- but what doesnt kil you makes you stronger.

true what you have physically does'nt define you as a person it can simply make things more comfortable but homelessness during pregnancy is a trauma

definitely but you coped, you got through it and you can get through the rest of it to.

you're obviously a very intelligent person and sometimes you have to be single minded and practical- deal with today and tomorrow when tomorrow comes.

that's cool, that's true ithink being single minded and practical is something i really need to focus on being x

Sorry to butt in on your conversation BUT WOW!! you should rename yourself WONDER-WOMAN!! I'm struggling with my state of mind and my partner at the moment (36wks pregnant with 3rd baby) hence i'm surfing Mumsnet. I've realised recently that i am becoming incredibly hardfaced due to years of feeling very alone But you have shown me that no matter what life throws at you, its worth keepin strong but human for the kids sake. I really hope you are in a better house situation now and your daughter is well and happy.
