Hi there,

Just wondered if anyone knew of alternative places/clinics to the postnatal clinic, at your own GPs, that you can get your baby weighed and plotted on the growth chart?

It's just that I seem, or feel, that I'm being treated like a child by my health visitors and subsequently my GP and would rather have it done elsewhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Not sure where you are, but in my area the HV's visit the baby cafe and have a weekly session at the local family centre. Worth asking your HV, try the pretence that the time clashes.

You don't have to go you know!!! I went weekly with my first, sporadically with my second and twice with my third!!!

surestart centres often have drop in sessions with HVs.

Bad mum alert - I never took my DCs to HV clinic. I never really saw the point.

I very rarely take dd. I only really get her weighed if I'm there anyway for her injections or something and god only knows where her red book is!

You do not have to go if you don't want to. If it is distressing, but you want to keep an eye on weight, can you lay/sit lo on home scales for a rough idea?
I don't take ds to OUR hv as her clinic isn't as close as another clinic, you can see any hv.
Ask gp for info on all baby clubs and clinics in your area
