What are your simple pick me ups?

Due to health reasons and life changes, I’ve fallen into quite a nasty depression. One I’m really trying to regain control of whilst processing my feelings.

Today, I just decided to connect all my Alexa’s throughout the house, and play Mariah Carey tunes from the 90s. (Before anyone worries about my neighbours, I don’t have any 😅🤣 as both sides have just sold their houses for new builds!) I’ve sung, with various different objects as my microphone throughout the day, deep cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, had a hot bubble bath, cooked a proper dinner for myself (as often I will just cook for the kids and snack!) and danced, and cried, and laughed..

I feel so much lighter this evening, I know it’s not a cure but goodness me it is nice to just be.

What are your simple pick me ups?

Trip to the cinema

I go on a date with myself somewhere nice such as lunch out.

Watch a foreign box set with subtitles so I can’t go on my phone at the same time.

Wash my hair.

Buying a bug bundle of clothes or handbags secondhand for cheap on eBay and vinted and realising I win at life!
bought x6 handbags for £8 but looking at them ensuring they are real I estimate the value to be worth far more. Included was a brand new with tags £40 Kipling mini crossbody bag!

also exercising in my home gym whilst catching up the soaps.

singing stupidly loud to the rock songs of my youth

Vitamin D
Healthy food, especially breakfast
Warm drinks
Day light
Walk in nature either greenery or next to water
daily gratitude

The simplest and most sucessful was a very low dose of antidepressants. It’s made all of the above so much easier to do.

A deep bubble bath, face pack, read my book and extra bonus if I can light a candle and have a glass of wine.

colouring in with my favourite pens or knitting whilst watching a film or show I love.

basically for me it’s things that are good for my soul

Fresh air really helps. A long walk in the forest.
A proper shower where I can exfoliate, shave, moisturise and apply some gradual tan and nail oil.
Taking a good multivitamin and low dose SSRI
Reading proper books
Early bed times

Walk outside everyday, even if only 10 mins

I’ve just swum 200 yards in the unseated lido.

Exercise, food and sleep, which ever I need most. I was feeling terrible earlier in the year and I tried to eat 3 meals, have a decent walk and a nap if I needed it each day. Make sure you’re reaching out for help if needed, I got bloods done and had significant vitamin deficiency which was making me feel dreadful.
