Did Getting A Diagnosis Help?

Totally lost. Likely multiple mental health issues including low mood and anxiety. CPTSD diagnosed for which I am receiving EMDR.
Possible Neurodivergence.
Menopausal. HRT takes the edge off but doesn't make things better.
Children now at school/getting older. I feel completely lost.
I don't like being alone.

Would getting a diagnosis help?
The NHS have not helped me. No access to support. I've got some funds to pay privately, would it actually help to receive a psychiatric assessment.
Medication not a cure all. I've been on a loop of antidepressants in the past.

Motivation so poor. Can't keep the momentum to swim/gym/walk/volunteer.
Anyone?

I think it depends on the diagnosis. Ive been diagnosed with bpd now known as eupd and I get less help now because off it and I definitely get treated worse by the nhs in general

Hi, didn’t want to read and run. Getting a diagnosis alone didn’t help, but talking therapies and coping strategies established with the help of the therapist did. It was a bit like, hmm, I have this condition, so what? How will it change my life. What did you go through with NHS so far?

I think a psychiatric assessment could be helpful if it gives you a clearer understanding of what you’re experiencing and what support might actually work for you. A diagnosis isn’t a solution on its own, but it may help you make sense of things and explore options beyond medication. You deserve support with how lost and overwhelmed you’re feeling.

i had a diagnosis of psychosis which I understood. Then a rogue nhs psych diagnosed me with EUPD. That destroyed me for some time as people treat you so badly with a PD diagnosis. I went private and the psych said no EUPD and went back to psychosis. That’s enabled me to restart antipsychotics which is life-changing for me.
So really, it depends on whether it opens up options for you medication-wise or therapeutic help.
Had I not gone privately (paid for by a family member) I don’t think I would be here now.

Thank you so much for your replies. I am going to go ahead with diagnosis.

If anyone else has anything to add I would be pleased to hear from you.

Getting a complete checkup is better for you according to the condition you explained. If that leads to some diagnosis or it figure out some issues, then it is better to follow the management plan which would be assigned to you.

No. It’s just another thing to keep secret and for the nhs to use as an excuse for whatever may befall you as a woman.
Good private therapy - yes but not nhs as it’s basically tick boxing.
just my one opinion and experience.
