Help me trouble-shoot my life - single parent, no support

Hi All,

I am wondering if you all can help me to sit down and work out how I can improve my life. I am struggling with the things below, and maybe we can collectively brainstorm how I can make things better.

  1. I am a single parent of a 6 year old. I do 95% of the parenting. DD does see their dad but not that much (and the dad just makes my life harder, which is another story, I am dealing with that one separately). I have no close friends or family in the area and cannot move back. Most of the time, I am parenting a challenging 6 year old on my own, completely. No other adults in the house. The little time I get to myself, I am frantically catching up on laundry and housework. How do I survive this situation without losing my marbles? I tried making friends with neighbours but they just have their own lives. No one I have clicked with so far.

  2. The one good thing that has recently happened is that I love my new job and have been promoted. So that's a good thing in my life. But I have to be super-organised as a result. I have tried bullet journals, time-blocking, none of it works. To be fair, I am good at work with lists, it is mainly that I don't have a good system of managing my home life. So it ends up being that I am either working or childcare or doing housework. I laughed when my doctor suggested self-care. When???

  3. I have very little real-life support (other than online therapist and family on the phone). I am terribly lonely. But how do I find friends? I tried, but most people in my area are in couples, or not interested or too busy.

  4. I need more practical support. I would love a nanny or an au-pair. But the cost? And where do I find good ones?

  5. My DD is lovely but very strong-willed. Bath time, homework, getting dressed, letting me do housework, mealtimes...everything is a battle. I just don't have the mental stamina to weather this....I feel like I have ADHD, where do I start? Do I feed her, do the housework, wash the lunch boxes, spend time with her? Nothing I tried works....

How can I trouble-shoot the above, so that I can improve my life?

Thank you all so much :)

Can you buy AL at your work place or take a week unpaid?

Book AL and send DD to a holiday club. Can you work from home at all? If you are full time I imagine its super busy for you!

Oh god are you me?
I’m exactly the same even down to kids age. I also have AuDHD
Ive joined a pretty good single parents facebook group recently
i use wrap around care at school . He says he hates it but honestly I could probably get away with not using it and save myself a fortune but I do it for my own sanity which is always hanging by a thread
