I’ve previously been on sertraline and it’s worked wonders for me but I’ve been off it for 6 months and needing to go back on something. Whenever I’ve been on sertraline I’ve lost all interest in being intimate with my husband and haven’t been able to orgasm which has put me of trying it again. The GP suggested mirtazipne this time as I’ve struggled to get off to sleep and been waking up in night. I’m day 3 and I’m just exhausted. I’m so irritable and I can’t function. I don’t think I can sustain this as I am working with two young kids.

I know there are more important things but equally if I can find one that works if I can. I don’t want medication to affect my marriage and intimacy with my husband as that is something we both enjoy.

As we are considering a third child, this limits my options.

The GP mentioned citilopram but is that going to have the same side effects? From reading it will.

All the medication comes with a few side effects so you have to be prepared for that. If you think it is not reliable then ask for other option which could be used alternatively to medicine.

I unfortunately found that with all antidepressants. I didn't dislike sex there was just nothing to like or dislike about it, and no orgasm. What I did enjoy about sex though was the feeling of closeness, maybe you could try to reframe it I'm your mind? Unless you don't enjoy it at all, obviously. But it was a really negative side effect for me.
