Hey, be great to hear other’s thoughts especially if you’re in a similar situation.
Im 49 and diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and Trigeminal Neuralgia, my mum is 79 and diagnosed with mild/moderate COPD due to her being a heavy smoker, she is still a heavy smoker. Mum only managed 1 session of her pulmonary rehabilitation classes. Yesterday I said very calmly that I’ve noticed she’s having more bad days with the copd than good and that sitting around all day isn’t helping her lungs. She was immediately defensive. I also said that if heaven forbid she ends up in hospital it would be difficult for me to visit due to my severe conditions. All was fine. It was only after I got home about two hrs later I got a message from her , a screenshot she’d found on social media. It read something about I loved you before you knew what love was, I held your hand and one day you will hold my hand for the last time. I started having an immediate panic attack as it overwhelmed me and felt like the emotional manipulation I felt as a child, hence the bpd. Anyway she then txt that I’d hurt her feelings yesterday when I said I wouldn’t be able to visit her in hospital, I was in full panic attack mode by this time, she rang and I couldn’t even talk. What do I do? Do I step back? Do I get ss in which is against her wishes. I’m currently waiting in psychological therapy.
