Citalopram Tiredness? Tip?

Im looking for tips for boosting my energy while on Citalopram…
anything that has worked or is working for anyone currently Taking them.
Foods, Supplements, anything!

I’ve been on Cotalopram almost 3 years for PPD.
I Started on 10mg but eventually the GP increased it to a 30mg dose which is almost the max dosage for this particular medication.
I dabbled in reducing the dosage last year (slowly weaned to 20mg) but soon realised my symptoms were resurfacing.
Anyway I’m on here about tiredness from them. I recently went 5 days without which I know is absolutely stupid but I could not get to the pharmacy to collect my script.
I noticed while I was off them, that I was not tired at all. It wasn’t insomnia, I could sleep at night fine, but Normally I could fall asleep standing up! All I think about all day is sleep and when I can nap or get to bed!
I thought it was just life, kids, work, house, and that being tired was just life as a parent!
I genuinely cannot come off them, as my mood during these 5 days proved that. I have zero tolerance for anything. Im crying at anything remotely sad (on ADs I never cry), im frustrated, impatient, and generally sad (which I know can also be a side effect of stopping the meds cold turkey) but the depression is still in full swing 100%z

Anyway, any tips welcome!

I could sleep 16 hours a day on Citalopram. In the end, I realised, it was pretty much like being depressed - as I slept too much then, too. Because of this issue, I switched to Prozac. I titrated down from Citalopram and up onto Prozac, stayed on it for a few months and then titrated off it very very slowly, so as to avoid any side effects.

When you come off ADs it is common for symptoms to come rushing back, so you think you need them, but actually, that can just be a side effect of coming off them. This could be what happened to you. I had this issue when I stopped Citalopram first time round, and ended up back on it for too long.

I found Prozac didn't work when I had PPD, but Citalopram was brilliant. However, it was impossible to get off it without adverse mood, so switching to Prozac, then coming off it about four times more slowly than medics suggest was the way to go. While coming off it, increase your time outside in fresh air and nature, daily exercise, healthy eating, and small upbeat things like good music, comedy programmes etc, as well as carving out some time for yourself each day - even just 30 mins in the bath with a good book, or an online yoga or meditation video, or a coffee with a friend. Sounds simplistic, but these things boost your mood while it might be wavering as you come off the medication.

My mistake was to stay on ADs far longer than I needed to. Citalopram is a life saver when you are very ill, but once you are better, it really could be marketed as a sleeping drug!
