Counselling directory online, that way you can search by postcode and find someone close to you 😊

Can you not get one through your GP? At uni i used the uni counsellor, but after I left my GP referred me.

Check out the counselling directory if you’re wanting to find a private counsellor https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/

Or go to your GP for a referral to your local NHS IAPT service

These websites check all counsellor credentials before allowing them on their directories.

I'm a counsellor . Like others have said, check the websites mentioned and/ or search for eg ( depression) (ADHD ) ( Bereavement) counsellor near me . Also depends if you want to speak to someone face to face or are you happy with remote sessions like Zoom? Also, depending on where you live, your GP can refer you to CBT sessions although these are usually limited to about 6. Definitely look around and do your research. Hope you find the help you need. Also, the NHS 111 service now has a service for Mental Health.

Just to add that most (good) therapists will offer a free introductory phone call to have a chat about what you’re looking for help with and how they work. This is to see if you like them and feel like they’re a good fit for you. I would suggest going through the directories mentioned above and contact a few people you like the look of, have a few phone calls and then book a session. In this way the process is not unlike dating, but it is important that you have a good personality fit to get the most out of therapy.
