Weight gain on quetiapine

Please can anyone relate - I am going insane.

i started Quetiapine 7 years ago. Immediately I went from a size 10 to 14, had a baby 3 years ago went to a size 18. 3 years ago I went on mounjaro and went to a size 8! I was so happy. Now I have come off mounjaro a year ago due to side effects I won’t go into the detail. Immediately my weight came back I am back to a size 16. Now my issue is, I don’t over eat, I am practically always on a diet and I go gym regularly lifting weights. I have spoken to my doctor about swapping my quetiapine to larisadone but the mental health team refused. My weight is really getting me down, genuinely affecting my confidence and mental health. I am constantly dieting, I have even spent a year with a personal trainer. Nothing works I know it was the quetiapine because before that I was a consistent size 10. Has anyone else had this experience with quetiapine and managed to swap medicationa and loose weight? The only thing that has fully worked is mounjaro but I don’t see the point going on it as when you come off it the weight comes back.

I don’t fully understand the science behind it but I think Quetiapine actually messes with your metabolism. I stopped taking it because I was scared of that happening.

I swapped from Quetiapine to Lurasidone and I lost 15kg over the space of a few months. I’m still overweight but I’ve now lost a further 7kg through WLI. Quetiapine, Olanzapine and Mirtazapine all caused significant weight gain. Have the CMHT said why they won’t move you onto Lurasidone?

Also, I don’t know whether cost is ever a factor when prescribing meds - Lurasidone costs between £80-£180 per month whereas Quetiapine only costs a few ££ (£3-7).
